    Been saying it for years!
    It's logical, and rational not to trust, depend or delegate all responsibility to one single company or product single or suites... No one can keep up or stay current for that matter. The layered approach permits multiple vectors to be addressed far more effectively as modules, and as such to be more specialized in it's individual niche, while keeping the playing field open with room to adapt quickly given new vectors being discovered...

    I think many products/companies lost their way when they started to become all products to everyone as they lost their true purpose and thus became less effective over all as they try to do too much poorly instead of little, but effectively...
