:D This does, indeed, seem hopeful! I think it would be very embarassing for Dr. Web to make this public a statement on the newer versions and the time frame for release if it weren't probable. Hooray! ;)

Dr. Web has fallen way behind the curve- they have simply been out distanced by their competition. They have an antiquated GUI and a scanning engine that is as slow as watching paint dry. I have eliminated Dr. Web from my AVs- it is simply not up to par with better AVs.

And how does this relate to the topic? Did someone ask for a must have "bash dr.web comment"?

Anyway, sad to hear that you are that much affected by the recent tests.

My guess is that it will be a suite, but with the option of excluding the "unwanted" modules .. same as the current 4.44

Can't take reality? It is not bashing- it is fact and undeniable. Old interface and slow scanning are facts- not bashing.

Yes I can, as you can probably read from the comments in other threads. I've stated that they've been doing bad in testing for last few years. The core interface hasn't changed from the 90s, you can read it from their website. Slow scanner is a known fact, but isn't a top priority for av or is it?

But this thread wasn't meant for evaluating if Dr.Web is good or not, simply to inform that they are presenting new version to public according to the article.

Well, Chris had hinted at a better engine infused with behavioral blocker and better scanning times in v5.
So maybe if/when DrWeb v5 actually arrives, it may be game enough to take on the competition.

I dont think bunkhouse is a pure basher, hes an old fan that feels dissapointed n noone should blame him for it but indeed it might be offtopic.

Tx for the awser Risl but i went trough some threads n it seems they will have also other "versions" so also AV - at least thats what i think now.

That's a good thing, I would only need the AV. :)

And I apologize if I made the impression that bunkhouse is a pure basher. But in my opinion there is no need for people to invade these threads with negative comments that doesn't have anything to do with the topic.

Having owned three major computer firms, I can assure you I am not a basher. Yes my comment was off-topic, but there have been assurances that a new beta with many new features would be forthcoming. We have not seen that reality- yet.

I would gladly go back to Dr. Web as my main AV if they innovate with a new GUI and faster scanning speed plus decent detection and very good heuristics.
That has been mostly promised- but we'll need to see tangible proof.

Yep, but the point was that those promised features and the expected release date should be now somewhat official and not just some guesses. Or have I missed some official statements about this from Dr.Web, if so, this topic can be locked/deleted. :)

Now you sound a little negative. I am not aware of any specific dates- and promises are just promises. Having made some money in marketing, I can tell you that if you promise loyal users something and then delay, delay, delay...you risk losing your customer base. That clearly is a risk right now.

It would be nice to see a new version(v5) from DrWeb soon.
Funny though, many keep talking about a public beta but I see nothing about beta in the article. Just......
Guess I'll wait and see, October is just around the corner. :D

Here is the artical translated into english.

Perhaps they just don't have an open beta at all.

If it releases in October, I expect the release date should be around 21-28th of this month.......

    this forum is biased!
As far as I know, the beta has been ready for over a week now, just awaiting a setup to be created and the all important green light.

The first beta will be an intermediate release of V5
