    Hi,
i just need a decent program to image HDD to DVD's...what i want to do is just image the initial OS install and maybe every month or so make another image to save...my data is not that critical, i just would like something that can do this simply and that would enable me to re-install the initial image in about 10 minutes or so....my current restore DVD's from the mfg take about 3 hours, so id like to try something else

are there any free or open source programs that would do this reliably or am i better off with Acronis or Ghost or something else?

Partimage witch is used by the CloneZilla live-cd is a little outdated and not the most easy to use for non-linux users.

The free Acronis TrueImage for Seagate and Maxtor users is nice.

You can download Seagate DiscWizzard from the link below:
    http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/discwizard/

I'm not 100% sure the deal is also for external HDD's but it's worth the try. Please make sure you've connected your external HDD during the installation though. The installation checks for a Seagate HDD before you can continue installation.

And thanks for the compliment! :D

    Hey thanks Sputnik,
that should be excellent...it asked where the Seagate or Maxtor HDD was and as soon as i connected it installed easily and looks like it will work fine....i copied an image to the ext. HDD in not much time and ill practice a few image restores and then i should be all set.... :)
