I have seen some information about an application called AppRanger. I like to see a lot of feedback from users before I try a new software. I have seen some feedback in the following WildersSecurity Posts:

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=214466&highlight=appranger

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=215897&highlight=appranger

Has anyone else gave AppRanger a Try? Would you recommend it? Does it work with Sandboxie?

I like the idea of having an application that can periodically lock down my PC when I am on the web.

    Thank you.

Well right off the bat it's for servers, so it's probably not ideal for home use.

I gave it a quick spin with no problems/conflicts.

Has a lot of features and able to be configured to the user's requirements. Seems like a good program which can lockdown the whole system, any program, removable media and so on. It's logging features are strong too, showing you what has been run, what has been changed. The program can also be password protected to prevent others from accessing it.

I noticed IE is sandboxed automatically. jmonge, I know it's easy to add other programs to be sandboxed. But how does appranger go when downloading a file, and recovering the file? Fairly straight-forward?

plus it is also a sandbox with a scaner(fast one)
i lock down my system and only put it medium when i need to download updates from microsoft every second thursday(something like that)
and with this sandbox you could block all file extension that can carry viruses/spywares(zip files,mp3,exe,com,bat.batch and more)what ever you want, also black list pages that you think are bad and has a banner and adware blocking feature, blocking adds in real time(no more mvps host file here)and more plus is very fast and strong(price $18.95)

It's definitely very light, and the scanner doesn't use up any resources either.

After using it, I wouldn't hesitate in purchasing it.

Others on here should give it a run. Shouldn't conflict with your other programs. http://www.appranger.com/

jmonge, is the license for one year? I know their site has some specific screenshots, http://www.appranger.com/screenshots.php , but would you be able to post a couple of others, say of its configuration features, or its logging? Others might find it to be beneficial.

have no idea why they do that but after installing appranger you wont need to format you clean and protected pc anyway:thumb:
the best thing about AppRanger is the lockdownload feature is that it denies any
    persistence changes to system
