Since upgrading to .467 from .437, we are seeing significant and radndom issues with users getting stuck here.

I've removed version 4 from servers and installed Version 3. No go.

It occurs most frequently with WAN based users at remote offices. However, we have had reports of this on our LAN as well (not as frequent).

Any other enterprise users notice this behavior?

    Hello Marv,

The protocol filtering mechanism may be causing the slow network activity that you are experiencing. I would try modifying the setting in a policy to see if this helps. The option to change is located here:

ESET Smart Security, ESET NOD32 Antivirus
    Personal firewall
    Setup
    Redirect traffic for filtering for:

The default is Ports and applications marked as Internet browsers or email clients. I would recommend setting it to HTTP and POP3 ports to see if the problems clears up.

    tested...didn't fix it.

However, We have noticed that the only machines reporting this issue have Windows Search 4.0 installed. We are removing the service and will retest. These calls didn't start until after the .467 upgrade. This service would have been applied earlier...

    Any possible correlation?

If Windows Search is indexing, then it will slow down performance. Every file it touches is scanned by the ESET software first. You should try excluding Windows Search from the ESET software to see if the machines log in faster.

I don't think Search will be indexing any files while Computer Settings are being applied. At this point the user isn't even logged on...

I'm leaning towards some other possible conflict. We didn't have these reports when .437 was installed.

However, we don't need the search search service and have not had any reports of problems since removing it.

Same problem here with clients running NOD32 AV 4.0.417.
Clients show hangs at booting win xp sp3 at applying computer settings sometimes. Clients are connected via GB lan connections. When disabling realtime file system protection at startup no hangs occur. But disabling the protection isn´t a good long term solution. Another thing we noticed are Eventlog ID´s 6004(Packet corruption) when realtime protection is turned on.
