Apple previews new Sanlitun store ahead of grand opening

Apple on Thursday offered an inside look at Apple Sanlitun, the company's latest retail location in China.

Teased on Apple's regional retail website last week, the Sanlitun outlet is located in the Taikoo Li mall in Beijing. It replaces Apple's first store to open in China, which closed its doors on Tuesday.
Just steps away from the original Apple Sanlitun, the new location is twice the size and features a number of firsts including an integrated solar panel array positioned on the store's roof.

"This store sets a new standard for Apple Retail in China and we're thrilled to build on our history in Beijing," said Deirdre O'Brien, Apple SVP of retail and people.
Like other flagships, Apple Sanlitun includes a Forum, Viewing Gallery and Boardroom.

Apple: The new Apple Sanlitun opens today

Apple Sanlitun also features Apple’s first integrated solar array in a retail store in China. The array will provide power to the store below, which, like all Apple facilities worldwide, runs exclusively on renewable energy. Apple is supporting enough clean energy in China to power more than 450,000 homes each year.

Since opening 12 years ago with 52 team members, Apple Sanlitun has welcomed more than 22 million visitors — the equivalent of every resident of Beijing passing through its doors.

Second Apple Store in Thailand opening soon at Bangkok’s Central World

Apple brought its first retail store to Thailand in 2018 at Iconsiam. After touring Asia to open new stores in Taipei, Singapore, and Beijing, Apple is circling back to Thailand with a second landmark location for Bangkok at the Central World shopping complex.
Apple Central World opens soon. Despite earlier rumors, no official opening date has been announced.

The new store is Apple’s 2nd in Thailand and 511th worldwide. It will be the second flagship opening for Apple following the onset of COVID-19, and will follow the same health and safety measures found at Apple Iconsiam.

Bangkok
Across the Chao Phraya River, Apple Iconsiam opened in November 2018. The store introduced customers in Bangkok to Today at Apple sessions and first-party Genius Support for the first time. Prior to Iconsiam’s opening, Bangkok was served by a network of third-party resellers and service partners.

Apple Central World is less than 5 miles from Iconsiam, and construction was already underway when the first store opened.

Apple opened its second and largest retail location in Thailand Friday. Located in Bangkok’s famous Ratchaprasong, the new store is spectacular even by the high standards of existing Apple Stores.

“In December, I visited the team in Bangkok as construction was underway, and I know they can’t wait to help our customers and to share this special space with the whole community,” Tim Cook tweeted in celebration.

As with any Apple Stores here in mid-2020, the Apple Central World store has anti-coronavirus measures in place. This includes the requirement of face coverings on the part of visitors, temperature checks, and social distancing policies.
Apple opened its first retail store in Thailand in late 2018. Apple Iconsiam Chao Phraya River is also located in Bangkok.

Possibly the most spectacular Apple Store yet is set to open in Singapore, Apple’s third retail store in the country.

Apple Marina Bay Sands has a look like no Apple Store before it. It resembles a geodesic dome or giant lantern sitting on a body of water in the iconic Marina Bay, a luxury venue which first opened its doors in 2010.
Apple has yet to reveal exactly when the store will open. However, it describes this as happening “soon.” Apple’s dedicated webpage features a graphical teaser video for the new store.
