Windows is becoming a major headache and an expensive worry.
I want to purchase an Apple Mac -- but, I have no Knowledge of them -- my father always considered them a "toy" and would never purchase one.

Now that I am the one who is doing the purchases, I feel out of my element!:O

If I purchase an Apple Mac, would I still have to have a firewall and all that "stuff" that goes with having Windows?

Is an Apple Mac safer and therefore not in need of all the "stuff" that one has to have to use the internet when using windows? o_O

Are Apple Macs user-friendly? I have never even seen one being used on campus or anywhere else -- where would someone go to learn to use one?
This is really upsetting to think that I don't know any of these things.:(

You may consider a Dual-Boot of your present computer......check out MANDRAKE.....which is will partition your drive for you can download it for free or purchase the CD.......there are several others beside MANDRAKE........

Personally I never found any difficulty with Linux. The Dual-Boot will give you the time needed for you to learn its ways and feel at ease using there are countless forums offering help.

An if you don't like Mandrake..just un'installed you are back to windows without any fuss or bother....

A Dual-Boot simply gives you a choice of which operating system you desire to use at any given time
