Today, Apple announced that it's going to be holding its third fall event of the year on November 10. As usual, it's a virtual event, presumably the reason that companies are more comfortable with holding multiple events. After all, journalists don't have to shell out travel costs to attend, and companies don't have to shell out for big venues, food, and hands-on hardware.

With Apple's September event, it announced new Apple Watches and new iPads. The October event was mostly about iPhones. Now, it's time for new Macs.

Apple announced that it's transitioning its Mac lineup to its own custom ARM silicon back at WWDC, and it promised to start selling the first ones before the end of the year. In other words, it's the one thing that we've all still been expecting to see from the Cupertino firm.

Engadget: Apple will host 'one more thing' event on November 10th

Next Tuesday, November 10th, the company will be holding an event appropriately called “One More Thing.” Given that the iPad, Apple Watch and iPhone were the stars of the last events, it seems likely that this one will focus on the Mac.

As is usually the case with Apple events, this one kicks off at 10AM PT / 1PM ET, and we’ll be covering all the news live as it happens.

Apple will officially hold its ‘One More Thing’ event on November 10, and that might be the date when the company will finally unveil its ARM Mac models. It’s been rumored for months that the new portable Macs that will be treated to the Apple Silicon will be the 12-inch MacBook, followed by the 13-inch MacBook Pro.

However, there might be some change to the company’s plans, according to a tipster, who states that instead of bringing back the 12-inch MacBook, it’s the 13-inch MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro that will sport the new hardware.

While the tweet might not provide copious amounts of information, what we can tell you is a little bit of the chipsets that might be present in the upcoming 13-inch MacBook Pro and 13-inch MacBook Air. The new MacBook Air may sport a custom 8-core ARM chip that’s near-identical to the upcoming A14X Bionic, the same SoC that will likely be found in the upcoming iPad Pro models.
As for the 13-inch MacBook Pro, this version might get treated to a more powerful 12-core chipset, meaning that it should perform slightly better than the 13-inch MacBook Air, though nothing is concrete right now.

The new M1 processor is heading to the Mac mini desktop. This makes sense, given that Apple’s developer kit for the new silicon was in this Mac mini chassis.
The 13-inch MacBook Pro is getting the M1, too
Apple’s 13-inch MacBook Pro is the next macOS device to get the M1 chip. It features the longest battery life of any Mac, according to Apple, with up to 20 hours of video playback.
