Because, I have WD to check for definitions every hour. That's why, I have in Windows Update ,15 or more per day. Robert
@Bill_Bright @Roberteyewhy - why bother about updates? WD also uses the cloud, which is more important and effective.
@Roberteyewhy did you buy Solo? If yes you probably have the latest one. If you still on v4, you can't get a legit Solo installer without buying it (via contacting the support.), they will tell the latest version as well.
I just installed the AOL Tech Fortress v5.2.9.1 and a 30 day Trial then $3.99 per month (no yearly). I am getting a $1.00 off per month though, so the first year, it's $36. But, I if it's virtually the same as AG v 4 then why pay? From what I know it is. Just do not know if it will update to v6. If it does then I will pay. It's almost exactly the same as AG with just cosmetic changes. No Check for Update in Advance tab, which has me concerned. I wanted Memory protection which will protect lsaas and Lsalso. "We are thrilled to partner with AOL to bring its members a new standard of easy-to-use protection against escalating zero-day malware, targeted attacks, and advanced persistent threats," said Blue Ridge Networks' Chairman and CEO John Higginbotham. "AppGuard has been field-proven to provide comprehensive protection that doesn't disrupt users. With AOL Tech Fortress powered by AppGuard, AOL members can be certain that AOL has provided them with effective, immediate protection against these threats for their Windows systems." https://www.prnewswire.com/news-rel...red-by-appguard-to-aol-members-246938871.html Sure wish AG Solo wasn't so expensive! Robert
Yes I know the AOL version. There is another fork too but I forgot it's name which is also not so expensive. v4 was a test build, v5 is considered as the stable. Both now considered as obsolete and vulnerable since v6 has several bug fixes and the lsass.exe protection. I think it requires a new license, but you may be able to bargain will AOL. SOLO from Appguard is expensive because it is now only for SMB, no more for home users. Around 90$ if I'm not wrong. V6 development is slow now since they are focusing most of their resources on the Enterprise version. Anyway AG doesn't requires many updates since the mechanism is efficient and stable. If you get v6 you can use it for years unless a new "serious threat" like Eternal Blue appears. You don't have kernel exploits everyday anyway.
Migrate2, by mentioning this article, for only $19.95. Do not know if it is still valid though. https://www.commdiginews.com/business-2/the-false-security-of-anti-virus-software-29435/https://www.commdiginews.com/business-2/the-false-security-of-anti-virus-software-29435/ guest, logic would dictate that I should keep this version over last v4 if I do not have to pay, right? Robert
Yeah it is why there is 2 cheaper rebranded version available. The AOL one and another with a weird name.
If you really want to buy AG, you should go to v6. If not, use other softwares or combo that simulate AG.
Yeah, I know, guest. But, for all the years I have used AG, I have never got a blinking icon except for OneDrive and whatever I have installed. Although, as the mantra in investing is, "My crystal ball is cloudy;I cannot predict the future." Robert
So if you barely got any alerts, do you really need it? P.S: I can understand the feeling of "needing an airbag" even if you drive slowly in a empty road
Alright, will think about it. Got to locate that $20 off if it is still valid. It's somewhere in an old image. Robert
@guest, the other version is by Bravatek and is called Tuitio. AppGuard did have a black Friday discount last year and I picked up a license for just under $60. I also bought a copy of Tuitio for roughly the same amount to compare them. They run different versions of V6 and some of the defaults and apps were different between them after install. Here's hoping Blue Ridge has another discount this black Friday.
Cactus5, what are the diferences between the two? What do you mean by, "...some of the defaults and apps were different between them after install?" It's now $49.95. I just watched the video and it sure looks the same except for minor GUI changes. You can help a lot of members here, if they are both the same v6, make a decision to purchase as for almost half the price per year, it's certainly worth it. Thanks, Robert
