I would do the same but did not write it because the question was if EIS processes should be put anywhere inside AppGuard.

This works for me too. If you right-click on a blocking message, and select "Help", help for that type of message should appear. If you click Help from one of the links on the GUI, does Help appear?

I know that many of you are running Appguard along with NoVirusThanks. I have been experiencing high cpu usage with Appguard. Does anyone know what Appguard protects from that is not protected in NoVirusThanks?

The 'guarded apps' and 'MemoryGuard' concepts restrict the actions of processes which are already running on your system as well. NVT offers a little more control if you wish to control launches from system space (C:\Windows or \Program Files) and it can alert you of launches during installations, yet it would be up to you to determine if the latter are malicious or not. AppGuard however will be silent during installations.

I have a customer that installed AppGuard on XP SP3 Polish OS. The AppGuard Service appears to start and the GUI starts, but the GUI reports that the AppGuard Service is not running. There are no AppGuard events logged to the Event Viewer so it would appear the Service does not get very far. I don't see anything unusual about his system and I've tried running AppGuard on Polish XP to try to troubleshoot this issue but I don't see any issues. He also has the following programs on his PC:

    1. WebrootSecureAnywhereComplete (real protection)
    2. Malwarebytes Anti Malware - scan on demand only
    3. Windows Firewall - turned off (because of firewall of Webroot)
    4. KeyScrambler free
    5. Bitdefender SafePay (Browser)
Can anyone help me with what might be going on? We do have a rather large install base in Poland and I imagine some of them are running Polish XP SP3. The only problem that we heard about previously was the issue with the Polish diacritics in a user-name, but that seems to work fine with AppGuard 4.0 (with the exception of adding a Guarded Program that we discussed a couple of weeks ago).

I've had problems in the past when running WSA with AppGuard on Windows XP. In my case, the system would hang on shutdown, even if one of them was disabled. Just having them both installed was enough to cause a problem.

Although this is a different issue, it might still be worthwhile for your customer to temporarily uninstall WSA to see if the problem with the AppGuard service not starting goes away, if only to eliminate an incompatibility with WSA as a possible cause.

When PC is booted and AG started I see 2, sometimes 3 same entries in Activity Report:
Protection level is set to<Medium>, each with different time stamp.

Is that expected? Why not just one?

    Nope.
When I click on Help in main GUI window or within tabs under Customize option, cursor starts spinning for 2-3 seconds and nothing happens. Right click on tray icon and selecting Help gives me AppGuard GUI error popup "Failed to launch help.".

EDIT1: Ok, now something interesting happened. I forgot to tell you that I set that Comodo message to Ignore. After I removed it from Ignored Messages list, I can now open Help file from interface and right click->Help is working.

EDIT2: Wow! Another one! I wanted to take a screenshot about multiple entries from my previous post and MS Paint would not let me save the picture! Now with this ignore message removed, I can save it!

EDIT3: Hmmmm...I tried to reproduce it again, added Comodo message, removed it and now Help/Paint are not working again. I guess I'll have to play with it more....

    Is that a bug?

Webroot SecureAnywhere Firewall is outbound control only, it relies on Windows Firewall for inbound.

If it was happening on my computer my first step would be to enter the services panel and manually try to start the service to see what error it issues then go from there. I'm not sure if the customer can do it but if they were able to check the event logs I'd imagine they could handle it otherwise there should already be something in the Event log with an error code to check..? I'd also recommend asking if the OS was nlited or they have manually disabled any windows services. AppGuard cannot function if specific services or modules are disabled.. I learned this the hard way with a similar service issue when I first tested it on an XP VM with alot of services disabled (including event log and terminal services).

    It's really annoying...

We must uninstall it first, but if the system crash and we can't go back, we can't do that... :(

It sounds like there might be a bug here. If you find a reproducible scenario, please, please let us know. I'll play with this today to see if I can reproduce it as well. I'll also alert our test department to make sure that they have some test cases with the "Ignore" message feature. There really is no reason that the Ignore Message option should interfere with the Help. The only connection is that they are on the same popup menu.

If you contact our customer support, they are usually very quick about restoring your license. I am going to contact our license software vendor to see if we can improve the situation in 4.1. There should be some way for the license server to recognize that the PC is the same and allow the license to be reactivated without our customer support being involved. Please be patient as we work out these license operation issues.

I agree. See my post above. I'll look into seeing if we can relax it a little with 4.1 release.

I think we used to allow you to choose the AppGuard install path during installation. AOL asked us to simplify our install (which we did with 4.0 in preparation for the AOL launch). Perhaps we should allow a custom install option for our version of the program. I'll do a little more research today to see if we can get that feature back in.

Thanks. I should have already indicated what we've already tried, but we did try to manually restart the service. No errors were reported. I have the person's application log and there wasn't anything out of the ordinary (though I don't speak Polish and not easy to understand). Would the System Log provide any further information. I vaguely recall something about Terminal Services being required, so I will investigate that further.
