As far as I understand, the only difference between version 4.X and 5.X is that for version 4.X the AppGuard service starts before the AppGuard tray icon appears; on version 5.X it starts after.

Because they will be transitioning to version 5 which is a yearly subscription. Version 4 license holders do not have to pay a yearly subscription fee, at least for now. Version 4 will no longer be offered on their website.

Correct. My portable apps are on non-system partitions. I can easily add them, and it doesn't matter if they need admin rights or not.

Version 4.X no longer being sold; discontinued - it will be only available to beta testers.

does this mean we should not do an update after ver 5 comes out or our 4.xx will upgrade to 5?

I have a "feeling" :cautious: that it is the culprit.
But I deleted my VM's a while ago, so i can't test it right now.

For 5.x you need a new license, that has to be paid annually. 37,65 €/year

Does anybody know if the current download of 'Personal' is still 4.4.6.1 and perpetual (till July 1)? I am thinking of buying a second license ...

I strongly believe when money comes into play, it's much better to ask directly via email to BRN. Things may vary from customer to customer.

If it's perpetual or not, we'll know it at Monday. And then there are only a few days left to buy a 4.x-license.
Edit: Even after that 4.x licenses may be available

Barb will be gone next week - on vacation. So license questions should probably be directed to BRN support.

If I recall correctly, 4.X will continue to be supported by BRN for its beta testing. However, at the same time, I get the impression that at least some of the higher-ups are not in favor of maintaining beta testing here at Wilders. Barb has stated repeatedly that she will continue to push to keep beta testing here at Wilders. So I take that to mean that there are those at BRN who would like to see us "go away." We beta testers might be on the way out...

Properly configured - which isn't that difficult - there is little, if anything, to fret about...

    The file and product version from these executables (AppGuardAgent.exe / AppGuardGUI.exe / LicQueryApp.exe) is 4.4.6.0 (timestamp: 2016-06-21)
    "About" = 4.4.6.1
    Installer: 4.4.6.1

Did you reboot after the upgrade?

In mine, the main executable is the same as yours.
But the "About" page is stating 4.4.6.1.

I've updated through the program, so I can't verify the installer.
