Thanks, but I don't think if you were promised a life-time license that you will have to pay.

Good Morning ! This is for Barb C...I'm a new user with AppGuard...and not really familiar with how it interacts with the rest of my system and apps. When it makes the following rule what exactly is it implementing with it this case Webroot Secure Anywhere? 09/15/12 11:25:05 Prevented <Webroot SecureAnywhere> from writing to memory of <Opera Internet Browser>. Sincerely...Securon

Barb i am a new user and have a new Dell that has a App called PC Checkup that runs. It is powered by PC Doctor. AG seems to stop this from running when it wants to in High Setting..

    Hi,

Will using Shadow Defender with AppGuard be redundant? Will they complement each other and act nicely in a layered security approach? Will there be conflict?

I have been using Shadow Defender, and Appguard together for years. They are the perfect compliment. Extremely secure, and extremely light setup.

Try adding wrsa.exe as a Power Application within AppGuard.

    Hi,

Given my pc specs in my sig, can I use AG alone or do I need to use other security apps as well like av/fw/on-demand scanner/sandboxing app etc?

    Best Regards,
    Amit

You could use AppGuard on its own but I would recommend using it as part of your existing setup which, based on your signature, appears to be as follows: -

    • Anti-virus: WSA
    • Firewall: WSA (outbound), Windows firewall (inbound)
    • On-demand scanner: Hitman Pro
    • Anti-executable/Software Restriction: AppGuard
    • Sandboxing: None listed
You already have a good layered security. If you run AppGuard on its own, you would be putting all your eggs in one basket.

    Kind regards

Providing you are behind a router and keep the Windows firewall enabled for inbound protection, you should be okay at least as far as the firewall aspect is concerned. Outbound application control isn't essential but if you feel you need that then the firewall options will depend on both the Windows version and whether you want a firewall with HIPS.

Personally, I wouldn't use AppGuard on its own though because I think a layered strategy is best. IMO the main emphasis should be on preventing infection in the first place, rather than relying on a software firewall to try and contain malware from phoning home once the system has already been compromised.

You could consider using a real-time AV and/or a sandboxing type virtualization program as an additional layer to complement AppGuard.

    Kind regards

I am thinking about trying AppGuard. Are there any problems with doing "Hot" Imaging on a PC that has AppGuard? I would guess that you would need to turn off AppGuard's protection before doing "Hot" Imaging.

I do hot imaging all the time with AG enabled on lockdown. I use Shadow Protect. I have also used Acronis True Image with AG enabled with no problems.
