    Hi,

I know that AppContainer has a sandbox around all Win Apps. How do I clean out the sandbox ? Or do they automatically wipe everything when the app closes ?

Why do you think Appcontainer is acting like Sandboxie...?
it isn't; sandboxing is not virtualization, Appcontainer is the ability to set the MetroApps to reach only the system areas needed for it to operates properly.

Look Edge, when you download something , you don't have to go in some container to retrieve it. Appcontainer is more restriction-based sandbox than virtualized sandboxing.

For anyone interested in AppContainer tech details, here is a white paper detailing its operation for IE. For the most part, it uses the same mechanisms in Edge: https://www.blackhat.com/docs/asia-14/materials/Yason/Asia-14-Yason-Diving-Into-IE10s-Enhanced-Protected-Mode-Sandbox.pdf

Generally speaking, appcontainer is based on permissions. Both IE and Edge use ACE's to restrict writing to package storage areas. The main difference between IE 10/11 and Edge is that Edge always runs in AppContainer whereas advanced EPM mode has to be enabled in IE 10/11. Edge also runs as a service under runtimebroker.exe giving it an "edge" so to speak over other browsers.

-EDIT- As to the OP's question on how AppContainer storage areas are "cleared," they are done so the same way non-appcontainer storage areas are cleared. Namely, by deleting cookies, temporary storage areas, etc.. via built-in browser settings.

    That is not entirely correct.

Each UWP application on Windows 10 are individually sandboxed in their individual Appcontainer.

If you want to clear everything stored by a single UWP application, then you simply navigate to Settings > System > Apps & features.
Here you will see a list of all the UWP applications you have installed.
Click on the application that you want to reset.
Next the option Advanced options will become visible.
Click on it and then choose Reset.
This will delete all data stored by that UWP application and reset its settings back to default.

You can do the above with all UWP applications.

Edge are a special case since it's part of the OS. Edge are cleared through in-app settings.

But all other UWP applications are cleared/reset as mentioned above.

Ditto for IE since it is not a native Win 10 app.
