BS, AdBlock Plus is a product, not a developer.

I knew bad apps are bound to slip in once in a while but this is really blatant. Google must not do any vetting at all.

I see you haven't had the chance to experience the nightmare that is the Windows Store.

Where do you see Adblock Plus? I see "hamur" specified as a developer.

I only see the Masque attack from last November, or was that already 2.0?

The developer was listed as Adblock Plus when I posted this. The developer name was also changed on the link provided by roger_m. Check out the reviews on the Adblock Plus link, at least those people got it right.

It will be interesting to see how long this junk stays active in the Chrome store after it's been reported. Who knows, maybe the developer name change was the only thing Google cared about.

Here's another fake Avast extension. The developer just happens to have developed Hotspot Shield, VLC Media Player, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and Ccleaner.

How Google lets obvious stuff like this through amazes me. With all their resources surely this could be stopped. Evidently Google's priority is just vacuuming up your data and not protecting their users, but a lot of people in this forum knew that already.

    how so unfortunately true.

searching google for 'malicious extension' lists chrome as the target browser in first 20 results

Well, it took a week but "hamur" finally got hammered. I'm sure he/she will be back under another name.

Obviously a measure problem for Chrome security is its extension, and as Google only use automatic scanning to detect malicious ones this kind of incidents won't disappear soon.
