Apetito dinner-service under cyber attack

    Today I got 7 frozen dinners from them. You could not choose which ones, but that is OK. Oh, they could also bring special diet dinners.
    And then comes next week: how to order? Waiting on the phone with 80 or more callers before you? By email (but that didn't work last week)? Or hoping that they will call me (like they did last week)...

    The info has been updated on 13 July 2022.
    The phone-lines are longer open (which was very much needed! I spend yesterday more than 50 minutes waiting on the phone ...)

    In general:
    I'm wondering if and when Apetito is going to tell more: what kind of cyber-attack; how could this happen; were there no backup systems or were they also infected; and lots of such issues.
    If they are going to tell more, I guess it will take months.

    Today I got a kind email from Apetito NL.
    It is not done to quote from an email message, so I will not do that.
    Some of the info was already available from their site https://www.apetito.nl/cyber-statement/ (and I posted about it).
    They are working hard on it.
    They wrote also about the billing.

    Everything is double priced in US compared to Apetito. Wish we had Apetito & their UK prices in the US. I'd sign up.

    The Apetito NL site has no more news since 13 July https://www.apetito.nl/cyber-statement/
    I wished they had. As far as I can tell they have at least the best info on their site to inform their users.
    We have to wait. It is now almost a month ago since the cyber attack.
    I got the dinners this week. Still limited choices there but at least you can order some.
    How they are going to send bills for June if their systems were encrypted, I don't know. How do they know?
    Unless there is more news I might stop posting about it.

    I might have sounded a bit positive last week. Well, forget it!
    It is absolutely a complete chaos !!!
    Forget about Apetito NL !!!
    You cannot get through on the phone, it is completely impossible.
    So you cannot order for the next week.

    It is now a month ago since the cyber attack on 25 June.

    The company is not able to restore things. In a month !!!

    The only ones responsibel for this disaster are the owners and management, no one else !!!
    All kind of PR blabla; oh how they care about their customers ... No, they didn't give a d**m sh*t.
    If you care about your customers, you spend money to secure your systems, make backups, backups and backups, and redundant systems and again and again. You make absolutely sure that no one of your workers can infect your systems, And the list goes on.

    Forget about this company. It has proven itself to be unreliable.

    Totally agree. All these big businesses & cities that get hit it is their fault. Hackers are hackers. These entities are cheap, greedy & stupid.

    They say that they hope that soon you have more dinner choices (it is now limited). Next week they come with more info about that, they say. I hope so.
    They say also that it could take until September before the webshop is open again. It takes more time to rebuild it.

    At least there is now some more info from Apetito NL.

    I don't know about other countries.
    As far as I can tell no more info at the UK site, and about the German site: I have not the slightest idea (maybe some of our German members have?).

    I'm not going to translate it all.
    They are saying that you can now order more and make your choices, starting in week 33 (!).
    And that their usual email addy should be working.

    To be honest: I have to see whether that all is really working now ("eerst zien, dan geloven").
    Since the cyber-attack their email was a disaster, and it could take hours waiting on the phone ...
    Will it be working now? No idea...
    This is no fun (understatement ...) when you need your food from them ... :eek: ough

    I don't know.
    I fully admit: when it is about my food, I overreact and my nerves are .. well .. eh .. way too much stressed.
    Maybe somewhere something went wrong, maybe me, maybe the connection. Long ago when something went wrong with the phone/internet connection between Randy and me, we were saying: it must be the dolphins bumping on the lines in the ocean.
    Must have been the dolphins again

    They wrote that the phone-lines are now longer open, 8:00 to 18:00 (working days).
    I can confirm that. It is working better now.

    They also wrote that they hope that the webshop will be up again in the beginning of September.

    I was told that they are testing the webshop and that that could take circa two weeks.

    But now today the big surprise: I can again go to the webshop!
    It may yet not be official, maybe not everything is working again. But I can see it.

    Oooh dear, am I happy !!!

    Finally after more than two months since the cyber-attack, I can see it.
    There was an interim solution with some FlippingBook but what a problems it caused me ...
    I could not see it with my bad eyes; it took me hours every week ....

    And now again I can see it. I can click again on a dinner to see and read all the details. Finally after more than two months...

    As I said it is not yet official announced. So let's wait and see.

    I'm also glad that you can go to the site with older browsers like IE11. Let's not forget: who uses their service? The elderly and vulnerable people. They may not have the latest and greatest.

    I don't know about the situation in other countries; sorry.

    Some good news from Apetito NL - 15 Sept 2022

    Today I got an email from them that their webshop is up again. That's good news! I knew it already since a few days but they have now confirmed it via email.
    At the moment I don't see it announced at their page about the cyber-attack https://www.apetito.nl/cyber-statement/ I guess that that will come soon.
    In the email (it is not done to quote from email) they are saying that they are now fully recovered from the cyber-attack on 25 June.
    After almost three months ...
    They are saying more in the email, but I leave it to that.

    I don't know about the situation in other countries. I really do hope that it is going better there too!

    Sofar for what's happening after a cyber-attack on a service that thousands and thousands depend on for their food ...

    But ... there is still no official announcement on their site.
    My goodness, is it so difficult to post it there when they did send an email two days ago.
    I don't know what is happening with this company ...

    The Dutch main site https://www.apetito.nl/ is still down; but the webshop is up.
    I don't know what is happening.

    Now I look at the general site https://www.apetito.com/
    That site is up. You can see there the countries and the links.
    I tried a few: they are up.
    So it must be something with the Dutch site.

    Everything seems ok in UK apetito site (called Wiltshire) as far as I can tell by looking at it.
    I think it may be a problem with just the Dutch site.
