AOMEI Support is not able to help me giving to me other suggestions beyond to install ADK and WinPE Add-on tool, and I don't know what do. I tried to solve reinstall 11 keeping my applications, because they are the same that I had when AOMEI worked, no one new. But after the reinstallation I have again the problem.

Possible that after so many years that I used AOMEI suddently it don't work anymore ?

I solved my problem, even I didn't understand the cause. I did a zero re-installation of Windows 11 and then I installed AOMEI Backupper: it worked, so I tried to restore an old AOMEI image, created the 11 January 2024. After restored the image and updated Windows, AOMEI works normally. Something must have happened in my system after the 11 January, but I'm not able to understand what.

It's fine that your probem is solved. But to avoid similar complications in the future, you should consider to store your backup files not on a partition of your computer but somewhere outside of it, e.g. on an external hard drive. Personally I would not feel well if I had my image somewhere within my computer. ;)

Thank you for your advise . Actually I had many AOMEI backup: one in the D partition in my pc, other in an external drive and in an USB pen; unfortunately AOMEI didn't see anyone of them, neither in D partition nor in the external supports. Now I wonder what was the cause: something happened in my pc, but I didn't install new programs, especially I didn'install third part security softwares. Regards :thumb:

Ah, I see. So it was a general problem with AOMEI, not restricted to the recognition of a certain partition.

Yes. Before doing a zero reinstallation of Windows I simply tried to unistall and reinstall AOMEI, but it didn't work. I tried also a previous version of AOMEI, without result.

Anyone know how to just backup my C: partition with this software? I tried it out today in Windows 10 but it kept offering the whole hard drive with no way to select only one partition. In Macrium Reflect there are clear check boxes but nothing like that in this program. I tried all the backup options: Disk, Partition, and System with no luck.

Also, I see there's an advanced setting for splitting. I rarely have a backup image over 50 GB. Will this program automatically split a file this size if set to Automatic?

In the instructions, I got to "3. Then select partitions or volumes that need to be backed up." That's where I hit a snag. In the example image it shows C: and E: selected, but how does it work? Do you just click the one you want? I tried that but it didn't work. I couldn't select just the C: partition.

Ok, I do not create this type of a backup with Aomei, but I can get your way to work. First I click on Backup on the lefthand side. Then I click on Partition Backup, then Add Partition or Volume. When I click on that, I get a nice little screen that lets me click just on my c:drive, then Add. BUT, when I do that, I then receive a popup message that states it is better to do a System Backup to make sure your backup is bootable. I have to agree with that, a System Backup would be better. But quite frankly, I do not do either. Why not just do an entire Disk Backup? That way you are completely covered for everything. This from their website:

If you have already created a disk backup for the running system disk, there is no need to run a system backup separately.

    Found here: https://www.ubackup.com/help/disk-backup.html

    Good luck, Acadia

    Phil459,

If you have a drive failure and you only have an image backup of the C:\ drive, you are in trouble.

I always do an entire system disk backup. Whenever needed, I do an entire system disk restore.

That's not bad advice. I hadn't really thought about that.

Here's a picture of my hard drive. Do you think 1, 2, and 4 need to be backed up every day? Does the data change? Or could I make backups of each one and store them for a rainy day? I usually backup C: every day; it wouldn't be that much trouble to do them all each day, but no sense in it if I don't have to.

Part#1 - changes occasionally if your BOOT environment changes
Part#2 - never changes (or is used)
    Part#3 - always changes
Part#4 - changes occasionally as a result of a possible Windows update

Other than Part#3, the others are so small you shouldn't even worry about the rainy day. I would back the whole hard drive up each time... that way you won't miss any of those "occasional" changes...

Indeed, not only are they small, but will only add a few seconds to your backup and restore times.
