Wondering other than the obvious Security Aspects, how does the Browser Perform on your system? Does it use a Specific Search Engine...or is it a Wholly Avira Product? Sincerely...Securon

Good Evening! Tried installing it and received an error message. Now I'm merely wondering, is this Browser Download dependent on having the Infamous Launcher Installed because I'm totally against the installation of this Uber Marketing Rubbish! Sincerely...Securon

  3. What I understand from the documentation, it is Chrome with Avira safe browsing, https everywhere and tracking protection. It does not mention Avirs's best buy funtionality but it is most likely included also.

Good Afternoon! Thanks for the feedback...Windows_Security! Not a Chrome fan...I'll stick with Firefox...hardened with Avira Browser Safety...U-Block 0rigin...and No Script. Was thinking of adding Vivaldi...but at this moment have a feeling it's not quite ready for Prime Time. But that being said, a year or two down the road it might and probably will be a different story. Sincerely...Securon

If you manage to remove Avira rubbish, then you get obsolete Chromium. That is all. Completely unusable, want to say - manure.

Just Chrome with avira's extension and some others. It was supposed to integrate the Avira database/cloud engine someday. let see.

Why? Do you mean there is no additional security when using Avira scout? :doubt:

thats right. and you make yourself dependant from such useless builds.
avira (and others) first invented into firefox als built-in browser, then they switched to chrome. users were upset and achieved profiles useless, no way to switch. and most of those derivates are limited. it was anytime the better choice to use one official browser and to modify for the own needs.

forkes from firefox are sorted out now, for chromium are rising, at least only few are usable.

the next major problem is that those suppliers cant manage updates in time so they announce a "secure browser" but the browser itself is vulnerable - stupidity. official builds dont have such problem.

ahhh... I've been using it on one of my win7. It has a search page, but let's you use what you want.
funkydude and your elaborate on your "avoid" comment, perhaps point us (me) to a link with more info to better understand your comment. thanks.
So far, my limited use with Scout, it acts like chrome, no issues or bothers that I've seen.

yikes, was not aware of obsolete issue(s). I won't be at the pc where installed until monday, but I'll check it deeper than I have. I assumed avira tweaked it good and it has seemed ok for me... but heeding the comments I see here. I'm not knowledgeable about chrome other than it's my first choice.

If they still don't included the Avira database/cloud on it , it is useless.

When I clicked on what I thought was just the browser, screenshot is what I got.\
Should I uninstall Chrome now that I have this browser?

The screenshot shows the Avira Connect (aka Avira Launcher).
As far as I can see, the Scout is not installed yet (actually except the Avira Connect, nothing is installed there).

It's up to you. You can use both browsers.

Yes correct, and I wouldn't trust browsers made by AV companies, it's just another way to spy on people.
