Hi Merle! Yes, Rollback RX is a fairly complex system configuration, BUT... there are many applications out there that "tweak" the MBR for their own purposes... and they may be part of what is referred to above as "standard configs."

Unless AARON HERE understands exactly what may have happened to his MBR (the probable cause of his exercise failure), he can't move forward with its possible use. Even so called "standard configs" need to know what AIP is really doing, both upon imaging and restoration. It's taken many of the Rollback Forum contributors YEARS to dig out important information concerning that product, information that should have been readily available from HDS or EAZ-FIX to assist system managers in determining the effect of an added application or environment. Hopefully AIP has some answers if AH needs them.

Frankly, it's not worth my while to pursue using AIP with RB any further. DS has been cold-imaging my RB-enabled system perfectly from the first time I tried it. That said, AIP did backup & verify my system in about 25% less time than DS and took about 15% less time than DS in restoring an image! That's impressive and if I were not an RB-user, I would definitely consider 'jumping ship' to AIP.
