My company works exactly the same way. We don't announce betas to the public until we have done COMPLETE internal testing. We all have seen many security companies state that their alpha/beta product will be available for testing on X date. What happens when it's not ready yet due to unforeseeable incidents (bugs/feature enhancements/feature changes)? People just complain and say, "you promised that version X would be released on X date, where is it?" and act like they are owed something.

Marcos stated "OUR" users, as in ESET's user group. They just have a different business model than other companies. I'm sure what Marcos means is that Eset will release the information after the internal testing is done and they are 100% sure what features will make it in the next major release. Version upgrades (ie version 4 to 5) include previous feature request by customers and new enhancements/ideas by the development team. During the internal testing phase not every idea/request will make it past the internal test to due to time constraints, bugs, etc. So why announce anything before all of that has been sorted out?
