Well the title is basically my question. Is there any benifit running nod 64bit (or any 64bit software) on windows xp 32bit but with a 64bit processor. Can software utilize the 64bit cpu without a 64bit OS?

    Thanks

The 64 bit version is designed specifically for the XP x64 operating system as it requires different drivers.

Since the software is compiled using 64-bit instructions, the operating system itself must also be able to handle these. A 64-bit app will not run on a 32-bit operating system, even if the CPU itself can handle 64 bits.
