Any Antivirus Disk I/O Tests?

    Reading around here it sounds like disk I/O from an antivirus is more relevant to the performance impact an antivirus has than just copy rates, boot times, etc.

    So my question is if any test has been performed that shows which antiviruses have the highest/lowest I/O rates.

    No, they usually don't report like that. I pay a lot of attention to it though. Feel free to PM me if you have a question about a various AV. Posting my thoughts in this thread may make it AvB.

    fwiw, if you're looking at taskmgr's i/o read/write bytes counters, it's not the best way to determine the level of *disk* io. it counts lots of types of i/o operations within the system, file, network and device i/o.
