Antivirus Software with lowest impact on system resources

AVG Anti-Malware, bitdefender 2008.

 

Is it just me, or does AVG use a lot more RAM on Vista vs XP?

i reverted back to XP just last week and everything is faster.

 

Thanks. I like the new bitdefender, it's really light an all, but I might just stick with the 6 months Avira premium for now

But who knows, my mind changes all the time lol

 

why isn't anyone talking about avast ?
This av is consistently improving , has a decent detection and very very lite on resources . In the last six months i have tested avira , avg , kaspersky , bitdefender , mcafee , f prot and avast .My personal experience is the free ones are more lite (avg, avast, avira ) than the paid ones .

 

I mentioned Avast somewhere in this thread. I'm personally debating between Avast and Avira myself. I like Avast's independent shields and how light it is, while I like Aviras detections.

I'm still waiting for Avast 5 with heuristics. I'm excited

 

I agree, I have been using AVG for 7yrs with no problems and I have all my clients on the free or pro version depending on their needs.

No, I have AVG on Vista machines and it doesn't run slow. Everything runs slow on Vista- it is just the OS but i really do not see that much of a difference

AVG for XP is a faster than AVG for vista.

i would not have said that 2 weeks ago, but after reverting back to XP, im shocked at the difference in speed.
