Eset NOD32 still the best, especially of catching in the wild viruses, very lightweight in resources and effective in detections with fewer or no false positives.

If Avira Antivir has few false positives or no false positives then this would be also the other one for me.

    I own licenses for:
    Kaspersky Internet Security
    Norton Internet Security
    ESET Security Suite
    Outpost Security Suite

I voted for Kaspersky because it is the only one I am currently using mostly due to the fact that it causes me the least problems of the bunch. Too bad I have to pick the least bad instead of the best one. I'm not truly happy with any of them. :(

I voted avast, but removed it two weeks ago and replaced it with Prevx.
More importantly, I added Sandboxie too. :)

I voted Avast. Since the release of 5.0 it's been the top AV I've recommended to everyone and with the release of 5.1, the acquisition of a IS key and the fact that they've fixed all the problems I've had with their software, I've switched to it.

I thought about the possible/probable ways my system might get infected through and sandboxed my browser/PDF viewer in Sandboxie (+ FF addons NoScript, AdBlock, CSlite). Microsoft EMET is configured to maximum security.

In the rare cases I download an installation file from an untrusted source,
I check them via VirusTotal.com (API, "send to").

Once a month, I let Microsoft's MRT do its default check and check with Emsisoft's Emergency Kit.

I alternate between MSE and Avast. Those are the only 2 that really work problem-free for me. They also both seem to be pretty good in general. I know Avira probably has better detection, but their update mechanism has never worked right for me on either of 2 machines here. Don't know why...

It is lightweight, strong and work with full compatibility with my Chrome and IE9 RC.

I've tried a lot but found nothing that compares to it. Except that NIS 2011 is also excellent (I use on my Desktop).

Norton on my new laptop ( coming in July) MSE for now on my desktop, but may switch it up to Avast!. Wondering if Avast is a better choice.
