My brother's computer was hit by the Antivirus 2010 and I am trying to help him to get rid of this "baddie". I tried all the antivirus programs I could think of, but to no avail. The virus stopped all the programs from running.
I don't know what to do.

    Removal instructions:

Also, DrWeb Cureit has the "Enhanced Protection Mode" option which should allow for it to clean Antivirus 2010.

If the above do not work, try one of the many Antivirus Rescue CD's such as the following:

RogueKiller is a neat little app that will kill exe killing rogue's processes which may allow a scan to start with Malwarebytes which is the best app to use on these fake rogue AV's.

RogueKiller can even nullify a lot rogues from restarting but still best to get a scan down with Malwarebytes to get rid of any dregs.

It may take a couple of executions of RogueKiller to kill the rogue's process.

I "almost" got infected with "Antivirus 2010" yesterday, it just pop-out on my screen and started "scanning" my PC for viruses.
I shot it down with TaskManager, and scanned with Malwarebytes, it found two exe files of it in ...local/temp folder, and one in the firefox profiles/settings.
After that, i scanned with everything else i have.. and there was nothing left of it, and no other problems appeared..
