When it does it's daily scan,it'll stop when it comes to this value:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet001\ENUM\Root\System\002\DeviceDesc

Why does it stop here and how can I get it to do a complete scan,as it will not scan any further after it gets to this point.

    Thanks!

I would post this issue at the Avira support forum and let Barrie take a look.

When I ran Avira, mine did the same thing. It stopped at that very same point. It's the Hidden Files Scan. No one at the Avira forum had any clues either. Maybe they do now.

    Hi,

Check if scanning for Rootkit is enabled. If so try to disable it.

I did disable the Rootkit scanner when I ran Avira. No problems with the regular scanner. When I tried to run the Rootkit scanner on its own, it would stop at the same point. I never could figure out why the Rootkit scanner didn't like my computer.

Well I'm giving Avira's Suite another try. It's the only suite that I really like, and the only one that runs so smoothly on my computer, it seems to purrr. :) I have a scan scheduled for later on tonight, so I'll see how it goes.

The scheduled scan, with rootkit detection enabled, finished just a few minutes ago. It made it all the way through with no problem. That's an on-demand scan, that I ran after installing Avira suite, and a scheduled scan, without the scans stopping during the hidden files scan. Hopefully this will continue with future scans.
