    I care what it costs.
Maybe your budget is unlimited but mine is not.

Danny, I agree, I was being off the cuff. I have really never taken the time to look at their pricing structure but know that vendors do it one way or the other. They save you a ton in the start and kill you in the renewal process, or, they charge you a so called right price at the start, and dont offer crap on renewal. It is one, or the other with all of them. Unless, their product has stability issues and then you save on both ends.

Avira is very well know and respected in Europe and as time goes on, their name recognition and product respect is growing aroud the world. They are just cutting the edge of what the future holds, instead of playing catch up or, falling very fast to the bottom. I respect them, I respect the members here, and if I didnt have faith in them, I damn sure would not have just posted this. Take care man, and just make the right choice.;)

You are right about Avira. There are alot of people using their products and that number seems to be growing.
I certainly, had no problems with it and ran very well on my system!:)
    Thanks for your input!

I thought that is what it was...but then why are you using that if you are worried about KAV chkdsk problem?

We aren't all having this chkdsk problem. Some are but most aren't.

FSecure has always used the Kaspersky engine as one of their three engines.

Sojoeii, I realize that not everyone using KAV or AVs that use the KAV engine appear to be having problems with chkdsk. However, danny 9 said:

"One of the reasons I'm out shopping is because of the chkdsk problem with Kav."

I think that justifies my question.

    You are right, ok

As of F-secure. They are considered a very important business partner to kaspersky

Yes it does justify the question and it's off my system.
To slow for me, for one.
It's surprising how many suites use the Kav engine.I Read that Online Armor uses it also, but according to them, just the engine and not the iswift or icheck technology.
I've stated it before but I have the chkdsk problem and that is why I removed KIS7.
It's unfortunate. I have yet to run anything that ran as smooth, fast and as well as KIS 6 and 7.
Though I have to admit that Avira is a very close second.
It's funny, I've been trying all the big guns but in between, AVG or Avast with Comodo firewall run just as well as the ones I've tried.:D

Thanx, I didn`t know that. My ISP offers it for free and I was thinking of trying it out since I recently dumped AVS. (no comment  )

Danny, I would give Nod a shot. I found it and Avira were the smoothest.

They are both good choices, both light and trouble free, at least for me anyway...
