my Q. is does it povide a better protection - a bigger number of viruses detected- than the famolus free Grisoft's AVG6 or Alwil's Avast32 ??
what about its famous reputation of false positives??

Although Antivir PE doesn't show up here, this is a good place to get comparative information.

Free AVs is not my forte', but you see with some looking into various tests done by independant testers, you can get some pretty good ideas about how well a product does. I am always wary of any bias showing in the testers, as money is an obvious influence in places like CNet and ZD Net unfortunately.

The software has a lot of disadvantages:
    - no heuristic (yes there is a macro heuristic but IMHO this is not good)
    - no unpacking features
    - you have to update the whole program (~4 MByte)
    - bad detection of complex (polymorphic, metamorphic) malware

I would recommend to use a real good commercial anti virus product like DrWeb32, KAV or NOD32.
