I too have used INETUPD.EXE /NW /AH with success and no nag screen.

/min is a windows switch and it is used to make any window open in minimized mode(in case you were unaware of that). It made the window only show up for me in the taskbar when combined with /EXP (which eliminated the need for me to press enter a couple of times during the process. When I use AntiVir switches /NW and /AH as suggested, /min no longer is of any use, and /EXP is also unnecessary.

Perhaps I'm living in the past. What time of day are you running it. I found it ran well at 10 pm Atlantic/ 9pm Eastern time but poorly at 10am Atlantic time. and other times in the morning. I haven't gone back to validate my past experience for some time, I just run one update in the evening.

For the guy having the problem, perhaps you have a typo or you are running when the server is slow.

When running with /NW /AH how would you know if the update failed, since you don't see anything? I know that Windows Firewall will inform me within a couple of days, but is there any other way to know?

Where do I put this info so to have it silently update in the background without any interface from me? Windows task scheduler, or the antivir thingy?

    where it says run?
What goes in start in:, comments:, and run as: ?

The whole idea is that it is updating without being notice. So you wouldn't know it is fast or not. ( in a way this give you the feeling of being "fast" :D )

You would get a download error shortcut on your desktop if you fail to update.
Which is annoying i hope they could change that.

Another thing i have mentioned before. The sudden switch of program. /NW /AH switch will only allow the program to run with in background. In practice window will switch focus to update.exe. Which means if you are typing something without looking at the screen. You will loss all of it since window is no longer focus on the word processor.... :'( ( which is what happen to me yesterday )

I hope they could consider these changes as well. ( Should be relatively simple to program )

    After the latest version

    I am actually running with switches INETUPD.EXE" /EXP /NW /ah, I don't even know why any more.

    IWOD,
what should I really be using.

I renamed the notifier.exe to NOTIFIERx.EXE, because I was still getting the nag screen.

So has anyone eliminated the nag screen without renaming the notifier, on the free version.

    Hi,

Looks like they you have to start INETUPD.EXE with /UDE
else you get a notification "Illegal start in the automatic mode"
Do you get this too? Did they disable a few switche or do I something wrong?

    I'm useing Program Version 6.32.0.51

    Regards

    Blue

I use System Scheduler from Splinterware.

    http://www.splinterware.com/

    I use the freeware version.
    Very easy to set up.
    Event/set State to hidden.
You can also hide the Tray Icon.

  14. Create a batch (update.bat) with following contents:

    @ECHO OFF
    IF EXIST avnotify.exe MOVE /Y avnotify.exe avnotifyx.exe > NUL
    START /MIN INETUPD.EXE /NW /AH

Then create a shortcut/pif in the same directory as the batch file with run minimized (this keeps the command window from breifly flashing on the screen)

Use update.bat however you like, windows scheduler for example. Tada.
