Another application has exclusive access...

    I have bought the personal (home) version of this program but already installed on my computer is a business version put on by my ex computer guru. When I attempt to uninstall the old version it comes up with the dialog box:
    "Another application has exclusive access to the file '...\ESET Smart Security\Charon\CASE.NDB'. Please shut down all other applications , then click Retry."

    When I open Task Manager, the only application open is the install program! How do I get the old program off my computer as they're obviously not compatible?

    Hello,

    Have you tried starting the computer in Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key as it boots up, and then performing the uninstall via the Uninstall shortcut off of ESET NOD32 Antivirus's Start Menu item?

    You could also try using Unlocker to unlock the problem file.
