    Hi!

For the past week or two, my computer has been slower every now and then. I discovered that AMON (amon.sys) is using around 90% of the CPU for 25 sec. every 35 sec.

Using the Task Manager, it looks as if the System process is using the CPU, but using Process Explorer, I could pin-point it to the amon.sys thread (Windows\System32\drivers\amon.sys).

I just installed NOD32 v2.70.23, and the problem is still there. I am using WinXP SP 2.

If I disable AMON, the problem disappears.

Does anyone else have the same problem?

    Cheers!

    JF

What operations do you perform on files? E.g. do you copy a large amount of sfx or runtime-packed files? If so, does disabling SFX archives, Runtime packers or Advanced heuristics in AMON make a difference?

I just figured out what the problem was. About a month ago I installed Centennial Discovery on my computer, and it seems to be conflicting with AMON (NOD32). Centennial Discovery is used to track assets deployed across an organization. It has an agent running in the background of every machine that is keeping track of what is installed on them. When I uninstalled it, the problem disappeared.

    Cheers!

    Hi velum, welcome to Wilders.

You could exclude this program in AMON.

    Cheers :D

    Hi Blackspear!

Thanks for the suggestion! I did not need that software anymore, so it does not matter. However, your suggestion could be useful for others.

    Cheers!
