    Hi,

I have a client who has been happily running NOD32 for 6 months she suddenly has been getting an error message when AMON starts up. The error message is "Error loading resident protection". I have unloaded NOD32 and re-installed but same problem.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Neil

    Hi,

Sorry. Should have specified. It is Windows 98 SE.

Type msconfig and see if all NOD32 components are checked (to run on start up).

Sorry for not getting back to you until now but work has been very busy. I did as asked and yes everything is set to start up. When amon goes to start it reports the error above. I have tried manually starting Amon and get the same error. I have even uninstalled it and re-installed it. Still no go. Is there a virus that could be stopping this from loading?

    Regards

    Hi nworley,

does he have any other AV together with NOD installed? Did he install any new programs around the time when the problem occurred?

    rgds, :)

    Hi jan,

    Thanks for the response.

No there is no other AV on the system and I am not aware of any other program that has recently been installed. Her son-in-law is a computer person and does change settings but as far as I know has not done anything to NOD32.

I have uninstalled it and reloaded it so I would have thought that would have fixed any changes that might have been made.

    Are there any know incompatibilities?

    Regards,

    Neil

    Hi Neil,

please send me a private message with your e-mail address - I'll send you a special "log version" of Amon that will check your machine for possible conflicts.

    Thanks.

We have solved this issue - the problem was that the Windows Temp directory was missing.

    Thanks. :)
