Something to look forward to: AMD’s upcoming Zen 2 Renoir APUs are now all but confirmed and will possibly appear very soon in up to 8-core, 16-thread configurations to give Intel a run for its money. Through the combination of 3DMark online benchmark results, early listings, and social media leaks we have a decent idea about the shape of the lineup.

While Ryzen has plowed away Intel’s market share in the desktop space, AMD still faces an uphill battle in the laptop side. Current Zen+ APUs provide decent competition for Intel’s midrange mobile parts but AMD has little that can handle Intel on the wider ends of the performance spectrum. With Renoir, that could change.

Following that news, a user posted on Chinese forums that AMD was preparing two eight-core, sixteen thread chips: the Ryzen 9 4900H and Ryzen 9 4800H. [...] Tom’s Hardware discovered Renoir-based laptop listings on Irish retailer Elara's site.

Intel certainly has reason to worry as AMD is determined to steal a piece of the chipmaker's mobile pie.

Renoir will seemingly bring AMD's APUs up to parity with Intel's 9th-generation Core H-series offerings in terms of core count. It still remains to be seen whether the rumored Renoir chips can outclass the current mobile Coffee Lake parts. However, AMD has proven to us before that Zen 2's IPC (instructions per cycle) should be taken seriously.

AMD teased us with the broad strokes of its Ryzen 4000 'Renoir' APU family for the mobility market at CES 2020, but shared more details at its Ryzen Mobile Tech Day on the processors that bring the Zen 2 architecture and 7nm process to the mobility market for the first time.
That includes the a new flagship 45W H-series processor along with a series of downclocked 35W HS models that the company designed primarily for high-end laptops with discrete graphics cards.

The company also gave us more fine-grained details on Ryzen 4000's architectural refinements to the Zen 2 architecture and Vega graphics engine, its innovative SmartShift technology, and how it achieves its battery life claims.

Highly anticipated: Just a fortnight after its announcement, AMD’s new flagship mobile part is appearing in a smattering of online benchmarks. The Ryzen 9 4900HS is consistently proving itself the equal of the desktop Ryzen 5 3600, while being nimble enough to fit in a 35W TDP. Seems to be one impressive chip.

The upcoming Ryzen 9 4900HS, and its non-HS companion, are the crowning jewels of the 4000-series APUs. Their CPU component has 8 cores and 16 threads, and their GPU half wields eight compute units or 512 shaders.
The 4900HS has been popping up rather frequently lately, appearing in six different benchmarks. Two need to be discarded due to apparent inconsistencies, so we’re left with four to mull over: a 3DMark Fire Strike run, two Geekbench 4 entries, and a Userbenchmark trial.

The 4000-series processors are already shipping in some regions, but unfortunately the coronavirus has delayed AMD’s plans for a global release.

Highly anticipated: Biostar has accidentally revealed the names and base clocks of seven upcoming AMD Ryzen Renoir APUs in their motherboard documentation. As a nice coincidence, Biostar’s information is the exact puzzle piece needed to verify other leaks and fill in some blanks. As a result, we now have a thorough and seemingly quite reliable picture of the whole release.

Without further ado, here’s what we’re looking at. There are three tiers: Ryzen 7 with eight processor cores and eight graphics cores, Ryzen 5 with six processor cores and seven graphics cores, and Ryzen 3 with four processor cores and six graphics cores. Each tier comes in two or three flavors.
All processor cores are based on the Zen 2 architecture and have boost clocks in the low 4 GHz range.

However, as Videocardz noticed, everything Biostar revealed aligns fully with a previously unsubstantiated leak from Igor’s Lab. This implies that the leak is genuine, so that information has been added to the table below.
