Amazon considered letting Alexa listen to you without a wake word
It would allow the voice assistant to process more natural speech patterns

I find it fascinating that people will pay money to have an internet connected listening device sent to their house and then willingly plug it in and start talking to it. This patent may be new but who's to say Alexa isn't already listening?

What you're describing is the abject brainlessness of people bringing these devices into their homes to start with. It is brainless to trade privacy for anything fanciful but these silly devices shows you how far down the track we've gone.
