That was "fun"... Only realised this morning, once back on a different PC and I had looked in here, that the problem was down to NOD.. Was running laptop with Vista 32 Business (with the older 621), and same problem as elsewhere - froze and lost data, and then unable to login or do anything at all unless in safe mode.. Have successfully uninstalled NOD from safe mode as helpfully recommended here..

But... I am concerned right now (even slightly scared after yesterday, with current client deadlines) as to whether I want to re-install again. This is the second time for me and, although I like that the product is light, I am starting to consider whether V3 is actually reliable enough, particularly for a standalone installation where one has to cover all the bases without being an IT specialist.

Goodwill is a funny thing; it sticks, until it fails - and then it can really fail....

Alternatively, is there a way whereby NOD can be set that updates are loaded just once a day or something, rather than let the software do it on demand whenever it gets the opportunity? I recall the scheduler probably had those kind of options, but can't remember if that was purely for scans etc, rather than updates..?? At least, that way I could reduce the risk of my laptop being crippled by a rogue update whilst I am in the middle of client work.
