    Hi paul570,

First read this and use the tool available there: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.blaster.worm.removal.tool.html
    Also install the patch advised.

Then download, unzip and run: http://www.spywareinfoforum.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip

Then see if you can uninstall Eanthology, Commonname and New.Net or NewDotNet form Add/Remove software. Either way continue with the following.

Then download Spybot - Search & Destroy
After installing, first press Online, and search for, put a check mark at, and install all updates.
Next, close all IE windows, hit 'Check for Problems', and have SpyBot remove all it marks in red.

    Or, download Ad-Aware at lavasoft.usa.com
After installing AAW, and before running the program, update by using the Globe icon.
    Shut down and restart Ad-Aware.
Now press "Scan Now", "Select drives\folders to scan" and select the active partition (usually C: ), then 'next', and let Ad-Aware scan your drives.
It will find a number of "bad" files and registry keys. Click 'Next' again.
Rightclick in that pane and choose "select all" and click 'next'.
It will ask you whether you'd like to remove all checked items. Click OK.
    Finally, close Ad-Aware, and reboot.

Kindly post another log after doing so.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Hi paul570,

Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = http://drvvv.com/
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://drvvv.com/jf-home.phtml

Reboot after doing so, preferably into safe mode
    and delete:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\EXPLORER.EXE <= do NOT try to delete the real Explorer.exe in the Windows folder

    Regards,

    Pieter

Hi I found this site by searching online. I recently clicked on a link in a friend's IM that said something like "lol, check out my new cam (link)". I ended up going to a nonexistent site and I noticed that the link was an IP address with a pif file.

You guys seem pretty cool and I would really appreciate your help. I can't even tell my PC is infected but I'm not taking any chances.

I have XP as my OS. I ran symantec's online scanner and AVG's virus scan and I found nothing. Here's my hijackthis log:

    Hi Landy,

Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer,SearchURL = http://www.blussy.com/index2.html

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://www.blussy.com/index2.html
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://www.blussy.com/index2.html

Then reboot and check if they really went away.

    Regards,

    Pieter

Hi Pieter. I am really appreciative of your help. I removed the items you requested and they did not appear after the reboot. However, I am not sure if this is the solution to the problem. My friend that passed the worm to me ran hijack program and did not have those blussy.com entries. Are you familiar with the worm that we are all speaking about? blussy.com seems to simply be some spyware site. I am under the impression that this virus more malicious than that since it will use your aim to pass the virus on.

    Hi Landy,

Nothing else shows up in your log, but worms can be hard to find, so I suggest you do a online virusscan. You can find several listed here: http://www.wilders.org/free_services.htm

    Regards,

    Pieter
