Advice on proxies please.

I'm a newbie and was told for starters I needed anti virus, a firewall and a proxy. The first two are sorted but I don't know whether to install proxomitron or webwasher (free version.....at least initially). From what I can gather, proxomitron is probably more powerful and versatile but in view of my limitations (computer savvy-wise) I will be running the program on the default settings only! Can anyone tell me which is likely to suit me better given I will not be able to 'mess' with it?
