If they would make a light version of their PDF reader, they would not have to force it on users. I never understand people, who still use it, installing 500MB software to open 500KB file.
I agree, it's really bloated with most things not needed by average user. MS Office is another product with similar problem and also laaarge updates.

Current Adobe Reader DC has Protected Mode process running within an AppContainer sandbox. This feature (labelled as beta) must be manually enabled within: Preferences - Security (Enhanced) - Sandbox Protections - Run in AppContainer (Beta)
