Yes, please add the option "Dont filter EV certs websites". And, I see Adguard Desktop default filters is "English Filter", Adguard Android default filters are English, Spyware, Social & Mobile Ads. Any specific reason Adguard Android by default enables Spyware & Social filters too? And I noticed in Adguard Android filters, Mobile Ads filter (enabled) is way down in the list. I think would be good if all the enabled filters are on the top.
Filed a feature request: https://github.com/AdguardTeam/AdguardForAndroid/issues/934 In both cases it all depends on the initial setup wizard, you can either enable or disable those filters while going through this wizard.
We are planning to do a huge rework of this section in v3.0 redesign: https://blog.adguard.com/en/adguard-android-3-0-first-glance/
We work on both versions in parallel. Version 2.9: it's close to the first beta release. However, timing on Knox availability depends on Samsung, we're waiting for the "production-ready" Knox API key. Version 3: working on UI prototype.
@avatar : The scientific paper cited in this thread makes me wonder if Adguard is also affected if I choose that HTTPS traffic should also be filtered. Can you hush my fears?
From what I read, Adguard should be A* grade, just like Avast 11. You can easily test it on your side: https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/viewMyClient.html And one more thing. Unlike others listed in the research, we provide users with two more options to mitigate any possible issue. 1. Adguard does not filter HTTPS for the websites with important personal or financial information. For instance, banking websites. This exceptions list is constantly updated. Btw, if you want us to add a domain there, just report it to github: https://github.com/AdguardTeam/AdguardForWindows/issues/911 2. Starting from v2.9 (it is coming soon), Adguard will provide a "Do not filter Extended Validation certificates" feature. Just like the one we already do in the Windows version. Most banking websites use EV certificates.
Bad, bad news about Knox. That's it, no more B2C software will get access to the Knox SDK. I don't know what they're planning to do with existing partners, though.
The thing is that for using Knox API we need a production API key provided by Samsung. Developer API key is limited to 10 devices, so it simply cannot be used by ppl.
First v2.9 beta has just arrived: https://github.com/AdguardTeam/AdguardForAndroid/releases/tag/v2.9.1-beta Changelog is really huge this time: new navigation, filtering log (!) and a lot more.
Got a message about v2.9.70 on my mobile. But following download link from here: https://adguard.com/en/adguard-android/install.html#howToInstall to QR code, still downloads 2.8.76. How can I update to v2.9.70? I was still on v2.5 and unaware of subsequent versions!
@paulderdash yeah, that's our bad, should be okay now. Wow, you missed quite a lot. Just take a look: https://adguard.com/en/adguard-android/release-notes.html
Well, I'm using the newest version as I'm doing a manual update check every few days. But shouldn't users like @paulderdash automatically be informed that new versions are available? I seem to remember that this didn't work quite reliably in the past but I have no idea if it's fixed now.
It would be good if there are update prompts, but I do not recall ever seeing one - unless I missed them.
It appears to be quite an issue. According to the old filters server load (which is no more used since v2.8 ) there is a lot of users on old versions. Also, there is an update prompt, but it was shown ONCE for every new version. If you overlooked it and swiped it away, you would never see it again. We changed it in v2.9, now update prompt will be shown every 24 hours.
Blocks Samsung Gear S2 voice input (speech-to-text). Had to exclude Samsung Gear app from Adguard. Running latest version of Adguard and Android on Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. Using default filters, along with Anti-Adblock Killer (without Social media).
https://kb.adguard.com/en/android/solving-problems/battery https://blog.adguard.com/en/ad-blocking-and-battery-usage/ TBH, I don't even remember what battery life was like before Adguard. Even if I did, it's been so long and so much has changed that I won't be able to accurately compare that. Phone still lasts over a whole day though, so it shouldn't kill your battery.
