Just a little tidbit for those who like to tinker a lot with about:config settings...

I had issues with the AG Assistant icon disappearing and appearing whenever it saw fit. It turns out there were two settings that determined when the AG Assistant icon would load up on the webpages. One setting relates to http pages, and the other relates to https pages.

If network.http.sendRefererHeader is changed from 2 to 0 (I did not try 1), then AG Assistant would not load on http pages.
If network.http.sendSecureXSiteReferrer is changed from true to false, then AG Assistant would not load on https pages.

Can Mister @avatar provide a description as to why this behaviour occurs? Just curious is all...

    Feature Request:
    Stealth Mode
    1) Hide Referrer from first parties - not sure if this can be implemented since it will have an effect on AG Assistant's widget. Using addons from Mozilla such as Change Referrer and RefControl also block AG Assistant from loading the widget.

This won't mess with AG Assistant when it's done on our side.

On the other hand, this may break some websites functionality.
Anyway, I've filed a feature request on github:
    https://github.com/AdguardTeam/AdguardForWindows/issues/690

Yes, I do anticipate website functionality breakages... maybe a first party referrer Exclusions list could be introduced, similar to the one for managing HTTPS Exclusions? Regardless, thank you for considering this. I have recently made a stronger collaboration between AdGuard and Firefox, which has improved my internet experience exponentially.

@avatar I have a situation where Stealth Mode is negatively affecting an SSL web site which is specifically adding to the SSL filtering exclusions list. Disabling Stealth Mode corrects the issue. I understand that Stealth Mode still has some maturing to do. However, I would assume that if a web site is added to the SSL exclusion list, that it would not be filtered/modified by Stealth Mode module as well.

It is more likely that there is a background request to some third-party domain (which is not in exclusions list).

The easiest way to see these requests is to open browser developer tools and switch to "Network" tab there.

To completely disable Stealth Mode does user have to close browser ?

I have situation where deactivating Adguard or disabling Stealth Mode, my bank still cannot detect IP address.

If I uninstall Adguard, of course bank detects IP address.

I report issue under Quality Control on forum.

I went to a website that detects proxy with Stealth Mode enabled.

It said I had a proxy. Then I disabled Stealth mode, and reloaded the website. It still said I had a proxy.
Had to leave the website and click the link of google again for it to finally say that I didn't had any proxy.

So, it seems reloading a website doesn't help, you need to leave it and enter it again.

Even if I deactivate Adguard, bank does not detect IP address.

Uninstall Adguard, bank detects IP address.

Something is not quite right with Adguard Stealth Mode.

Maybe you can try adding it to the HTTPS Exclusions List. I assume all legit banking sites run on HTTPS, so you might need this extra step so AdGuard is skipped while you bank.

Thank you, sir. Your tip to check Developer Tools - Network section in Chromium was great for tracking down the issue and helped resolve the problem. You are right, the bank site was loading another https tracker site which was causing problems. So I had to add it to the exclusions and it's all good now.

Wishing you and your Adguard team all of the best in this new year. I don't purchase a whole lot of software, but my lifetime subscription to Adguard is without a doubt one of my best software purchases. :thumb:

Even if I completely deactivate (turn Adguard "off"), bank cannot detect IP address.

Must completely uninstall Apgaurd for bank to detect IP address.

@hjlbx try clearing browser cache after disabling AG or stealth mode.

Keep the stealth stuff and adblock stuff active... but try unticking browser support, followed by removing certificate and restart app.

EDIT: Damn, didn't notice avatar posted already... wh00psi3!

@hjlbx tells that exiting Adguard does not solve the issue, that's why I think that the problem is either browser cache or the banking website itself.

When you exit AG it completely stops filtering so it just cannot interfere with the website.

Browser cache is easy to check. The other option is that banking website has remembered that @hjlbx was trying to hide his data and now just does not allow him in. So the other thing to try is to clear this site cookies and localstorage data.

Anyway, I recommend adding that website either to SSL exclusions or to ad blocking exclusions or to both. Disabling stealth mode & clearing caches every time is too much of a pain.

Sorry, I wasn't referring to restarting AdGuard, I was referring to restarting browser.

Any chance you can roll back addons/software injected into your browser, and just use AdGuard in the beginning... then re-insert removed items one by one? I get the feeling that someday will never come since everybodys' setup is different.

Question for both users... does AG Assistant load up on both http and https pages?

It should. Check out my post above to see if that config tweak brings back the AG Assistant. <--- assuming you use FF; not sure how that would be handled in another browser. Also, addons maybe have that setting as an option. They are useless since AG makes the changes at network level, as opposed to browser level.

Once you find the blend between browser and AG, your internet experience will improve and, for mine, adding uBlocks' blocklists to AG made things faster, as opposed to running split lists between the two.

You gotta' get the Assistant back for https; you're missing out!

Not in the mood for a remote today. There must be others with the same problems. Today i stopped using AG for Android because it might be causing problems on my phone with https twitter, which seems to freeze or crash with AFA possibly.

No problem. Could you please take a screenshot of that issue you have?

Have you tried disabling ad filtering for twitter app? Just go "Menu" - "Firewall" - find twitter and disable ad filtering for it.

    Hmmm, so you're using v5. I don't think v6 makes use of injections[1/2/3].*
    It shouldn't matter though.
