Since I'm satisfied with Adguard Pro and Adguard VPN on my Apple devices I went back to the Adguard Chromium extension instead of uBlock Origin and I'm surprised at how big of a leap Adguard has made in the last couple of years I've been using uBlock. I have nothing bad to say about uBlock but Adguard seems to be better established in Chromium browsers (in my case Opera) and thus a bit faster and more efficient.
Recently, I've installed AdGuard on my computer/s. Yes, it does a very good job to fight those annoying ads and trackers, but... Here is my "but." I'm having a big problem about finding the best choice of this/that AdGuard DNS server, Firefox's Privacy settings - "Secure DNS settings" while using my VPN desktop apps. Ex.: Firefox (with Max Protection ) and Windscribe Desktop VPN + AdGuard's Cloudfare with ECH enabled gives me negative results on TLS 1.3 and ECH, but when I turn on an additional browser -based VPN app, I get positive results about ECH and TLS 1.3. It's only one of numerous questions about several issues - ECH, TLS, even, DNS - problems. Let's say, I'm in the city of "A" and my desktop VPN server is in the city of "B," but, because of AdGuard's DNS choices, any DNS Leak tests indicate that Cloudfare DNS servers are from my city of "A." What's more, in some cases, due to all that complexity of "Firefox (with Max Protection ) and Windscribe Desktop VPN + AdGuard's Cloudfare with ECH enabled" sometimes my real ISP DNS is leaking().
I can't be of much help as I don't use FF but your combo seems to me over VPNed/DNSed. Try Adguard alone, i.e. its DNS and VPN service.

I'm getting tired of the AdGuard desktop app. It slows down my Internet speed. Without AdGuard (desktop app) my internet speed with a desktop VPN is about 700Mbps. With the same VPN app and the AdGuard (desktop app) on, it goes down to about 80Mbps. Terrible.
According to Avast, because of how HTTPS scanning works, speed test sites can be fooled into thinking you have a lower speed. Personally, I have not tried to verify this info. Try to download a large file with and without AdGuard to see if AdGuard is indeed slowing down your download speed. Measure the average time it takes to download the file. https://support.avast.com/en-ww/art... speed with internet speed and local hardware.
It's not just about any Internet speed test. Let's say, without AdGuard app, I click on the wilderssecurity bookmark and within 0.01 second I'm on the wilderssecurity web-site. It's the same about any web-site/s. With AdGuard on, it takes about minimum 5 seconds to see the wilderssecurity web-site. Currently, I've stopped using the AdGuard desktop app - I don't go to any "dangerous" sites. What's funny - I don't notice more ads while I'm browsing. I deal with tracking by totally cleaning my history when I'm leaving this/that web-site.
I do experience exactly the same problem. It slows down my browsing to a crawl. Tried to reinstall it a few times the last couple of years, but same result. I have a lifetime license for AdGuard but not using it anymore. uBlock Origin does a good job for me.
Here is one "interesting" thing - I've have not not noticed any difference about ads while browsing with or without AdGuard.
It's possible that there are some other issues or bugs related to AdGuard for Desktop that is causing this massive slowdown. I don't use AdGuard regularly but I have a lifetime license and test it from time to time. Just now tested it and I don't have such massive delays. But it's always going to be slower than browser-based adblockers as it has to decrypt HTTPS traffic to filter ads. Just install the AdGuard AdBlocker Browser Extension instead.
the adguard app is complete different from the browser extension and may change experience. it's a system wide filtering option, but only for a browser i recommend the extension, or as mentioned ublock for for superior blocking. for edge i use adguard extension MV3 but its not that good as ublock MV2, anyhow adguard MV3 is the future. if you have issues with the adguard app then you should contact the support, the app is paid!
You are right and indeed I did contact them a couple of years ago. I can’t even recall if I had feedback at the time, so I gave up…
AdGuard Browser Extension 4.2.228, Release date: November 27, 2023 https://adguard.com/en/versions/browser-extension/release.html#version-42228
I'm not having this issue, it's probably a combination of things but if it works fine without then that may have to be your solution. Mine was crashing for a few days on my desktop but I went into the settings and reset defaults and haven't had any more issues.
Whatever it is, currently my AdGuard desktop app is "misbehaving." I'm very happy with just the "uBlock original lite" add-on for my browsers - no visible sluggishness.
uBlock works very well. Unfortunately YouTube detects it. Only a problem if you care that it's a problem.
i only have the "app" (premium build) on android and i dont have any issues. but thats android and not windows.
uBlock doesn't block cookie consent notices or webpage popups like surveys or subscriptions, even using the exact same filters used in AdGuard. In my experience, uBlock is the worst Adblock extension, I'd take even Adblock Plus or Adblock over it.
I've found most ad blockers to handle those things poorly. My recommendation is try several and keep the one you like.
If AdGuard is not using in special AdGuard specific syntax to block those cookie notices then they should work fine in uBO. I use AdGuard Annoyance on uBO with no issues. What were the websites where uBO didn't block annoyances but AdGuard did?
