Does the default Whitelist in NoScript take priority over and supercede any subscription list items in ABP (e.g., google-analytics.com)?

    don't think so

ABP will block items regardless of any other extension

for google analytics, ABP doesn't block all scripts from the domain it just blocks tracking scripts that don't break sites and it is safe to be blocked

it is becoming increasingly more difficult to surf the webs with things like NoScript on.
web masters have become quite proficient in building sites that tries and succeed to defeat tools like NoScript.
the contents, the tracking and the advertising seems to be getting more intertwined as time goes by...

and the major browsers seem to be more on the side of the advertisers than the users.

trying to fight this seems as futile as Don Quichotte fighting windmills.

For the purposes of what I use one over the other - it would be ABP.

Am I correct then in assuming that you use ABP, but not NoScript -- or don't you actually use either one?

Correct - I am at ABP version 2.3.2.

Another super add-on for Moz is Disconnect.

You live and die by your extensions. Over time you know what works with what and what does not play well with others.

Not trying to go off-topic, but I have to ask. . . you obviously lean toward Disconnect, but doesn't it perform similarly to DoNotTrackMe or Ghostery?

Errr... no, not leaning toward Disconnect, it's an excellent addition to ABP, IMHO.

    siljaline,

I noticed in your screenshot that you're using EasyList and EasyPrivacy+EasyList. Isn't the first EasyList redundant or have I been assuming wrong?

With Noscript you can enable automatic whitelisting of top-level sites; in my experience that makes things more convenient, and Noscript can still provide protection vs. plugins and iframe expliots.

Disclaimer: when using Firefox, I always use Noscript.

    Why not both?

Like for example I can use NoScript and Ad Muncher but it is not necessary.

EasyList is alive and thriving. :thumb:

If you look at known ABP Subs, you would see EasyPrivacy & EasyList are supplements. The time stamps on all are current when I last manually updated the lists I chose to use.
They are clear differences as you can see in the physical block list contents.

This is how i configured my noscript. By default most of the sites works with out any additional whitelisting, on top of it we get additional protections with exploits...(iframe,frame and 3rd party javascripts)

Is there any problem with using only NoScript and nothing else? What protections are left out in that case?
(I don't mind if I see ads on my screen as long as they don't cause other harm.)

In the 2nd link you posted there are 3 subscriptions relative to our conversation. Easylist, EasyPrivacy and EasyList+Easyprivacy. As best as I can tell the later is the 2 former subscriptions combined into one subscription. From looking at your pic that means you have two EasyList subscriptions. They could be slowing you down correct?

Sorry if I wasn't clear and I'm honestly not nitpicking. I've been curious about the lists for a while now. I just don't want anything that slows down my browsing if I can help it.

I did bring up all three lists in my browser and did random selections of the first two lists and they show up in the combined list. I just wish I knew a way for my browser to count lines on a page two make sure all the lines were present.

a bit off topic but just noticed that the Adversity filters (Adversity + Antisocial) are missing from the ABP Subs page, anyone knows why?

I was able to get a confirmation that easylist+easyprivacy is just the two lists combined. https://adblockplus.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=17749

    @ siljaline

    just FYI

    "EasyPrivacy+EasyList" includes "EasyList"

    and

"Fanboy's Annoyances" includes "Fanboy's Social Blocking List"

    so

your browser loads "EasyList" and "Fanboy's Social Blocking List" twice which slows it down

That may be true or there is some redundancy & overlap but it's not like I'm running two A/V's at the same time.

Then again, if one list was essentially totally redundant the ABP folks would not support it. Just an observation.

    Regards,

You'll be using at least more RAM and bandwidth, they're completely redundant. The proper AV analogy would be running both the Security Suite and the Standalone Anti-Virus of the same company.

It's obvious that both are supported for user choice. EasyList isn't even by the "ABP folks", it's made for them to utilize.
