I am aware...but I was just pointing out your assumption, that I am or was using IE. ...Anyway, not to worry...it is no big deal.:)

Hey Jeffrey, can you get rid of these things? They pop out whenever I read an article on Wired.com, TechHive.com, PCWorld and others. I know there is a malware out there that does this, but that's not what is wrong since I see these nowhere but sites with articles:

Of course they can be removed.

there isn't a generic way to remove them though, they need to be removed on a case by case basis.

Removing them by default is also in doubt.

Okay. I'm not too concerned over them, they're just a little annoying and they seem to be a recent thing to these websites since I don't recall them being there that long ago.

Jeffrey, can you check out http://qz.com/? I'm getting a constant "loading" icon on the screen and the site never loads until I switch off AM. After I turn AM back on and reload the page, it loads normally.

    How long before 5.0?

HTTPS has to be in, it's a huge missing feature right now that drives me insane. I have a fake facebook account to get coupons and stuff when I like companies, and the ads there caused me to install FacebookAdless extension. Very annoying to not have HTTPS.

Can we get a reasonable expectation date?

My Automatic update never seems to work. Everytime I manually right click and choose update, it finds new updates....

Advert list 4429 is the latest. Shut down AM, clear cash and temp directories, start AM and try to update.

I somehow missed two updates after manually checking an hour ago.

@Bodhitree: My god yes, I'm sick of Https websites skirting right past AM. Youtube is this way now if you don't either manually type in the regular Http address or bookmark it. Google is going Https for a lot of their services now.

Cache and temp files aren't causing update issues. Trust me.

OK, It had to be coincidence in my case because this solved my problems with AM updates recently. Sorry didn't want to confuse you intentionally.

You didn't. This has just been an ongoing problem, so it's "nice" to see others with the same issue.

I'd also like to know for version 5 if Http 1.1 support will come?

Updates will almost always be found it you manually check. The reason is AM only checks once a day or so. It will eventually update itself if you just leave it and forget about it.

For youtube or any other HTTPS site, you need to use another browser specific extension for now, which isn't ideal but it is workable. Still highly annoying AM doesn't support HTTPS, and it is 2013.. I mean - lets go guys, finish it up.. We don't even have a workable alpha or beta of 5.0 yet. I love AM, it works great, speeds browsing, but the lack of HTTPS is inexcusable.

Oh believe me, I've left it alone and forgotten about it enough times to know that it doesn't always auto-update. But yeah I agree, the development is slooow. Then again, it's two people, only one of which we have any contact with and seems to work solely on list updates. I give Jeffrey credit though for what he does do. He seems to work his ass off on them.

I used to think that until I thought a bit about how exactly Admuncher could technically support https. You would need to proxy https and that's no mean feat. In fact, I'm really not sure I want my SSL traffic streams sniffed.
Browser extension ad blockers don't have this problem because they act upon the https stream after it has been decrypted.

I say Jeff, take your time and get it right with AM 5. I appreciate the hard work that he does in developing this product and the excellent customer service. Every time I've had need to contact Jeff he has responded very quickly. I find it very, very sad that AM is such a good product and at times it reads like an all out assault on AM and the guys that develop it.

Good point. But I think for it to happen AM might have to act as a firewall driver, technically not all that difficult, but potentials for bugs and slowdowns could be extreme. Other products that do this tend to slow browsing - considerably. (Adguard, etc)

Nobody is bashing them purposely, but it becomes frustrating when we accidentally hit an HTTPS page and ads start blasting us in the face..

You know, that's a pretty good point.

You either have a reading issue or are taking these criticisms completely wrong. Nobody is "attacking" AM, and certainly nobody is "attacking" Jeff. I find the fact that he's here near constantly updating users and answering inquiries along with working on AM to be pretty damn awesome. But eventually people are going to have issues, eventually the program needs updating, and eventually users are going to want more than "Coming Soon ™". That's all. It has nothing to do with attacks.
