No, clue, the time stamp on the installer is:29-05-2007---22:34, so i guess you have to ask them. :)

What a joke this AVS... Whenever i finish burning a CD using integrated Vista burning software, AVS disables itself, locks up entire pC for 20 seconds and then crashes. Bravo to the team behind this one...  :gack:

    Good Information in here!

I bought a new laptop which came with Norton. My first act was to uninstall it and tried to install the AVS 2.5 that was posted and it installs fine. But when I try to use the license that I was assigned, I keep getting an error "Initialization Failed"
I looked all over on how to fix it, but can't find anything. Help!

Yeah, this version has cooties. :p There's a reason that it's still not officially released, apparently. I was messing about with my wife's wireless card, and just for kicks I looked at the program. To my surprise, the bugger had shut itself down. Being that my dearest isn't technically predisposed, that just won't due. So, once again, it's AntiVir Classic and Prevx 2 for her.

The latest version from the AOL AVS website is now 6.0.0.308. This version should work ok, right?

That's the old version that has been out for roughly 7 months now.

I know, but this is the version directly from the AOL AVS website. Do you think it's safe to use the new version?

If I were to say 'no' would you still use it? Some people have had success while others have not. Are you feeling lucky? :ninja:

Hey EliteKiller. Well I have Prevx 2.0 back on board and still have around 4 months left of the free 6 month Avira PP that I got from a thread here awhile back. I just would however like to install Active Virus Shield because of the way the GUI is laid out and the features it has, but when you ask me if I'm feeling lucky, if I did install it, what do you think the worst case scenario could be? BSOD, doesn't run properly, or maybe the worst one won't uninstall properly. Thanks for your help.

    Hi guyz,

Is there a big difference between v. 6.0.0.308 and v6.0.2.621??

Would I be disadvantaged if I use the 6.0.0.308 version of AVS when it comes to protecting my PC from the latest online threats?

    Thanks in advance

Well from my recent experience. 6.0.0.308 updated after installation where 6.0.2.621 wouldn't. It did un-install just fine though.

Just wondering how the latest 6.02.621 version of AVS is running for anyone who has it? I read it runs well on Windows XP Systems.

It ran well on my wife's XP Home laptop for a few days, then mysteriously shut itself down without warning. If this version were truly ready for prime time, it would be the one that's being offered by the AVS site, not v. 6.0.0.308. I'd stay away for now.

A few people in the Kaspersky forums have recently posted that they are running the new version now and all seems well. Anyone here running it yet without problems?

I can control myself and not d/l it yet. It's kind of ashamed that Kaspersky is connected to these type of problems with AVS, but at least the last version is good.

Yup, it says it's now compatible with Vista on the www.activevirusshield.com page but when you download it you get the old XP version which trashes Vista PC's.

    Nice one AOL. o_O
