Hi, I used Acrylic for few months and I was quite happy with it but one day it stopped working althought I don't have any idea of WHY because the ini file is well configured, the adapter DNS is set to 127.0.0.1. I think it came from a windows update. The pages don't load. If I remove 127.0.0.1 it is OK. If I use DNSSpeeder 2.85 it works fine but the program is old and crash sometimes on win 8.1. With nslookup I cannot resolve any names, always : "request time-out" I used acrylic monitor, I just see "F" request (forwarded) but the response never come back to the computer, so the page do not load. Then I formated, reinstalled windows 8.1, installed the minimum of devices drivers, no firewall and disabled completely windows firewall. Then I installed Acrylic DNS: same result : it doesn't work. I only have 2 adapters: intel 6300 AGN and LAN. I have a wireless receptor for my mouse too. Then I setup the same windows in VMWare workstation, put acrylic and it works. What could happen? or any idea to help to diagnose? I enabled debug log and I put some sample below: Code: 2014-11-30 14:41:40.528 TResolver.Execute: Request ID 42296 received from client 127.0.0.1:55717 regarding "go.microsoft.com" of type A. 2014-11-30 14:41:40.528 TResolver.Execute: Request ID 42296 forwarded to server 208.67.222.222:53. 2014-11-30 14:41:40.528 TResolver.Execute: Request ID 42296 forwarded to server 208.67.220.220:53. 2014-11-30 14:41:40.856 TResolver.Execute: Request ID 39543 received from client 127.0.0.1:51635 regarding "www.msn.com" of type AAAA. 2014-11-30 14:41:40.856 TResolver.Execute: Request ID 39543 forwarded to server 208.67.222.222:53. 2014-11-30 14:41:40.856 TResolver.Execute: Request ID 39543 forwarded to server 208.67.220.220:53. 2014-11-30 14:41:40.856 TResolver.Execute: Request ID 53247 received from client 127.0.0.1:53151 regarding "www.msn.com" of type A. 2014-11-30 14:41:40.856 TResolver.Execute: Request ID 53247 forwarded to server 208.67.222.222:53. 2014-11-30 14:41:40.856 TResolver.Execute: Request ID 53247 forwarded to server 208.67.220.220:53. 2014-11-30 14:42:01.779 TResolver.Execute: Request ID 11857 received from client 127.0.0.1:51339 regarding "www.google.com" of type A. 2014-11-30 14:42:01.779 TResolver.Execute: Request ID 11857 forwarded to server 208.67.222.222:53. 2014-11-30 14:42:01.779 TResolver.Execute: Request ID 11857 forwarded to server 208.67.220.220:53. 2014-11-30 14:42:01.779 TResolver.Execute: Request ID 04641 received from client 127.0.0.1:58441 regarding "www.google.com" of type AAAA. 2014-11-30 14:42:01.779 TResolver.Execute: Request ID 04641 forwarded to server 208.67.222.222:53. 2014-11-30 14:42:01.779 TResolver.Execute: Request ID 04641 forwarded to server 208.67.220.220:53. 2014-11-30 14:42:02.830 TResolver.Execute: Request ID 11857 received from client 127.0.0.1:51339 regarding "www.google.com" of type A. 2014-11-30 14:42:02.830 TResolver.Execute: Request ID 11857 forwarded to server 208.67.222.222:53. 2014-11-30 14:42:02.830 TResolver.Execute: Request ID 11857 forwarded to server 208.67.220.220:53. 2014-11-30 14:42:02.830 TResolver.Execute: Request ID 04641 received from client 127.0.0.1:58441 regarding "www.google.com" of type AAAA.
Thanks but outbound isn't very user friendly. Now I use Dnsspeeder, I installed it as windows service in order to get it to restart automatically if it crashes. Any of what could happen with Acrylic? Dnsspeeder binds to 0.0.0.0 port 53, like acrylic. any windows command to check why dns are not resolved through Acrylic? The ini file is in its original version (with openDNS DNS).
When you install dns trigger unbound automatically installs. I'm not using it now because I have Chrome optioned for "asynchronous dns' with 'http cache' which seems to be faster imo.
