    Hi all,
Long ago a presumptuous and intrepid salesman introduced the program 'Ghost' to us in the industry. He used every means of communication available at the time and finally we gave it a try. The functionality has become necessary to anyone with something important on their hard drive.

'Ghost' begat 'Drive Image' which begat 'True Image'. Now, one of my favorite programs - the one I recommend to others, has become a piece of '____'. Are we about to come full circle and return to an interesting sounding 'Ghost 9.0' or will Acronis come back to their senses and make things right?

Please Acronis or anyone else explain to me "what has happened?". Don't ask me for reports, suggest I use a 'Safe Version', or enter a magic line to Linux. Please Anton or anyone explain what has occurred and when will it be fixed.

    Thanks,
    Ken

    Hi, presrc

You are asking for help with a question but do not say what the question is, it is no good saying don't ask this or that and expect an answer, we are not telekiinetic. [well I do not have any telaesthesia powers]

    Take Care,

The question is - Why is a wonderful, inventive, ingenious and excellent company heading down the toilet? The reference (so not to affend the ESP challenged among us) is to the hundreds of complaints of poor performance on this forum.
Quest, I think you are fighting a losing battle.

    Hi, presrc

Well it is a User Help Forum after all.

I am not fighting any battles, just trying to help.

What did you expect just posts saying how good it was, would not be much help with problems.

You have had help before from some of your nine posts.

    Take Care,
    TheQuest

I think he's talking about the fact that version 8 of this program seems buggier than and inferior to version 7. I have another thread going right now about the almost unbelievable fact that I could make DVD-sized file splits in TI7 but can make image files no larger than 2 GB in TI 8 and then only by entering the size very carefully.
There are also reports about Acronis Support slipping very badly. I've had several responses to my problem on this forum but Acronis support hasn't bothered to reply to my questions at all.
They got a few Editor's Choice awards and then just seem to have gone to hell in a handbasket. When you sell more product, you should be able to afford the programmers to make the product better. True Image, however, seems to me to be getting worse.
So I have to echo Ken's question, "Why is Acronis slipping down the toilet?"

I disagree. Not only is this a support forum, but a feedback forum as well. Customers have the right to voice their opinions should they feel the need to do so. Based on what I've read, lots of folks have the right to do so. There is nowhere that it is posted that feedback or comments are unwelcome, and if this wasn't a larger problem, you would see one or two posts. This is good for the consumer, because after reading these forums, I will not purchase an Acronis product. It has saved me some hassle and aggrevation.

    Gentlemen and Ladies,

The fact of the matter, bottom line, is that the entire TONE throughout this Forum is exactly the same. The words are different in each thread but all one has to do is read between the lines in order to get the feeling that pretty much everyone has had it up to "here" with Acronis of late! I started the thread "What's With Aconis" some days ago with the intention of getting someone's attention who is high up on the food chain at Acronis. As another member recently pointed out in a reply to my thread, "Anton" has taken a "powder" rather than deal with the issues presented here. Of course, if I was Anton with obviously no support from my company I would most likely do the same. So be it. Acronis will sooner or later realize where they are headed, what has happened and why. But if PC software history holds true, by then it will be too late and we will have lost yet another "what could have been a really good product"! *puppy*

When I purchased TI6 Acronis was a great product with great potential. A Ghost user for years and I made the switch to TI6. Acronis was growing it's supported hardware base and was very responsive when I reported hardware that TI failed to recognize. Bottom line TI never let me down until TI 7 build 627 and TI 8. If I lost my OS HD today I have an good image that I can not restore. Fortunately, I saved a copy of TI 7 build 613 program and rescue disk otherwise I would be dead in the water.

IMHO Acronis needs to speak to their users and respond to their questions. They need to make available prior builds so people in trouble can recover. Right now it looks to me like the key technical people have bailed out.
