What’s new in Acronis True Image 2015 18.0 Build 5539:
    • Brand new UI. Creating a backup is straightforward and navigation is very user friendly.
    • Entire PC backup. To back up your computer, just click on “Entire PC” in backup source, and we will select your internal drives for you. We still have a more advanced option for backup source, in case you would like to backup certain partitions.
    • A new joint Acronis Bootable Media builder. Just click on it and select what kind of bootable media you need: Acronis Rescue Media or WinPE.
    • New simple way of WinPE media creation. Once you select it in the Acronis Bootable Media builder, we create it for you; and in case AIK/ADK is required – we will suggest the correct version.
    • New option to send feedback right from the product. With just one click, you can send system report information and your feedback directly to the Acronis Development team
    • New offer: Acronis True Image Unlimited with unlimited Cloud storage.

To lighten the product and to make it more reliable, At least the following and possibly more features are removed from ATI2015:
    • Acronis Extended Capacity Manager
    • Trim SSD
    • Backup file conversion from the .tib format to .vhd, and vice versa
    • Disk Editor
    • Boot Sequence Manager
    • File Shredder
    • Import and export of backup settings
    • Try&Decide
    • Mail backup
    • Mounting an image (But you can explore with File Explorer, which should
    • provide the same utility).
    • Manual backup file management (deletion of individual backups)
    • Manual Consolidation of incremental backups
    • Manual siting and naming of backups is more complicated
    • Display of Backup file details and options (schedule, backup size, and last update) at the main screen
    • The ability to sort backups by date

im actually liking this somewhat, and im NOT a acronis fan at all. this one is working pretty well though and it it much lighter. it still a heavy program though as far as backup solutions go.

Fits my needs perfectly. I don't need all the extra functions other than backup/restore using boot USB.
To be honest, some of the functions like Trim SSD is really useless nowadays as every SSD supports native trim command on Windows, so there is no need for third party trim tool.

If you do not do hot-imaging, Acronis is quite good at all.
I also use its bootdisk only.

My advice: Stay away from True Image 2015, because it is a stripped down and buggy version of the excellent 2014 release.

The 2015 version is already released september 17th to the existing users, who were offered an upgrade at discount price before official release september 23rd to the general public.
Take a look on the Acronis forum where everybody is disappointed and complaining about the 2015 release........

    https://forum.acronis.com/forums/acronis-true-image-home-discussions/acronis-true-image-2015-forum

Most of the users who have upgraded to the 2015 version, are downgrading again to the 2014 version and are asking to get their money back by refund which they are eligible to do so within 30 days........

i much prefer the new version to the older one. i hated all the extra stuff they had in there and i would have not used any of it.

LOL, looks like Acronis could have released two versions: 1. one is the current 2015 version and a advanced version with all these extra features.
I'll go with the "stripped down" version.

OK, LOL, as well, nice to see you Oliverjia, seems we never miss an Acronis thread...
So my 2 cents: Acronis 2015 is allright for me, I only use the PE version anyway. I never "install" imaging software, and never understand why anybody would want to. An imager/ backup program should be on a USB, because that's where you'll do the restore from. You know how they always say you shouldn't put your backup on your HD, well, don't put your imager there, as well.
Back to Acronis 2015: the PE version is pretty much the same as 2014, with the added hardware compatibility and some other stuff. I'm glad they haven't changed too much in that regard... Still the easiest and fastest solution for me.

Why? Maybe that is true with Acronis, but not at all true with others. I have Macrium and IFW installed on my systems, and they are flawless. In fact with Macrium I initiate the restores in Windows and it automatically boots into the preboot environment, restores, and boots back into windows. Works flawlessly here. Off course CD available for restore if there is total disk failure.

haha, yes nice to you again Atari..

I also only use the PE version of 2015 and it appears to have the same GUI as in 2014.
The only glitch I found in the 2015 version seems to be an old bug inherited from 2014 version: when I backup a Ubuntu x64 installation on my laptop (an old BIOS Acer Aspire laptop), it appears to be doing a sector-by-sector raw backup instead of doing only the used sectors, which is very slow and results into a huge partition image size of nearly 30GB (the total partition size is 60GB). Paragon and IFL works normal(recognize the used sectors), both produced only 2GB of the image size for my Ubuntu installation.

It works fast and easy on Windows imaging.

Oliverjia, are you creating that Linux backup to an NTFS or to a EXT4 disk?
    Maybe this info is helpful?

Thanks Atari. The destination disk is NTFS formatted, so theoretically the backup should be working properly. A little off topic - I also encountered a similar situation when backing up a Ubuntu x64 EXT4 partition on my desktop computer using Drive Snapshot. It appears strange since some other times these imaging apps work properly on different computers when imaging EXT4 partitions.

I'm made aware of this update every time I boot my desktop machine and it pops up a little balloon from the taskbar tray telling me a new version is available. I can't find any way to disable it. On my laptop the notification doesn't work so I end up with an icon in my tray that doesn't do anything and I can't get rid of. It's a crummy way to forcefully market an upgrade.

They stopped when I set Kaspersky to block Trueimagemonitor.exe from accessing the internet. It doesn't make me want to buy more software from them.

Acronis is absolute Pants with this version, unlike 2014 version. I tried to load My Images into the program, but because they are 2014 version images it say I can only recover with the Boot CD..... **possibly offensive phrases removed** because some Chipmonk cant do there Job correctly and add these options into newer versions
