Acronis OS Selector

I have installed Acronis Disk Director Suite 10 and with its help enlarged my XP partition by taking over some free place from the Linux partition. (They are on the same HD) It went OK.
I installed also Acronis OS Selector and checked several times that it can sart both Windows XP and Linux. (Before booting occured through Grub.) After a while I choosed Windows as standard system and worked in this mode for two weeks. Then I needed Linux again. The Acronis OS Selector, although seeing Linux, always died out by trying to boot it. Nothing helped.
As a consequence I had to deinstall the Acronis OS Selector and with the help of the Linux Installation CD reconfigured again Grub. It is OK for me, but one should warn other users to refrain using Acronis OS Selector (at least in this version!) by the simoultaneous use of two operating systems.

 

You might like to check out a free multi-boot manager called GAG. See my recent post https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1307509&postcount=5. I have given up on OSS too and I have just installed GAG. It claims to work well with Linux as well as Windows but I haven't tried that.

 

Thanks for the tip, but I am content with the old grub and not keen to try something else. Grub is available in any Linux distribution and works without problems.
