If it only scans on execute how will it prevent a threat say for example that crashes explorer by just clicking or mouse hovering a file or just opening the directory containing the file? Will Mamutu protect from this?

so ur saying that a malware file is gunna activate itself by "hovering" ur mouse over it?...well in theory yes i believe Mamutu wuld work but even before that, even if u are only "hovering" over that file, it executes itself in one way or another which means A2 will scan it, On-Execution doesnt mean it will only scan on the USER executing the file.

The file does not run automatically. Explorer crashes after parsing/reading the file. Does Mamutu prevent BOs?

The File Guard Has 3 settings for real-time scanning to choose from.

    1. Scan only programs before they are executed
    2. Additionally scan all files when they are created or modified
    3. Scan all files when they are read

So the 3rd option will scan as soon as the file is accessed, just like any other scanner.

There was a screen shot for the real-time settings here ( https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1578419&postcount=15 )

Well, it has been on my wife's laptop a few days and she says it runs fast but she is complaining about pop-ups she doesn't understand. Not a good sign! I'll probably move her back to DefenseWall.

Have you enabled Intelligent Alert Reduction?

I did not enable that option as it said that could reduce detection.

In my experiences with it, both personal and having configured for others, I have not noticed a difference in detection. In fact, I prefer to have that option checked when putting on others machines as it lessens the chances of them allowing something they shouldn't.

Having said that, I would never turn someone away from Defensewall either. Great program.

Thanks...I'll enable Intelligent Alert Reduction and see if that works better for my wife.
