Despite extra security precautions set up on the fish tank, hackers still managed to compromise the tank to send data to a device in Finland before the threat was discovered and stopped.

Why on earth does a home thermostat need to be connected to the internet?

You wouldn't want to make a person stop eating popcorn and get up to feed the fish or adjust the thermostat during an episode of "Game of Thrones" would youo_O
