Not Blackspear but since I haven't seen him here for some time , perhaps you accept advices from others .

Installing over existing v2.7 will not keep ALL your 2.7 settings , just basic like UN/PW , ThreatSense.NET , status of detection of Potentially Unwanted Software .

    1. Download fresh new version of the desired ESET v3 product
    http://www.eset.com/download
Make sure that you choose the correct version.

    2. Uninstall your current NOD32 v 2.7 from Control Panel
    3. Reboot the computer when prompted
    4. Delete manually these folders:

    - C:\Program files\ESET

    5. Install your ESET software using the file you downloaded in step1 . Use typical install. You can use BS's tutorial for more help . Then , at the end , if you want his settings , just download the xml offered and import the settings . Make sure that afterwards you enter your unique UN/PW to be able to update EAV 3.0
